So Saturday, November 12, 2011. I have made my trip to my first anime convention at ShadoCon 2011. I have had a big blast at the event. Not only was I able to have quite a time, but it is my one chance to see the man behind the Nostalgia Critic, Doug Walker, who was one of the guests at the event. I couldn't pass up.

So my trip began. I made it in the morning to register and immediately slap on my Tommy Wiseau cosplay. I was surprised to see so many peeps respond and recognize my outfit, and the responses can be quite epic. I stuck around when I was able to catch the Q&A panel where Doug Walker would be answering some questions. During the panel, I was able to make quite an impression during one of the questions asked by one of the con goers asking about the most annoying actor in his opinion.

Awaiting for someone on YouTube to upload the video so we can hopefully see me in action...

Some time after that, Doug came out with his camcorder to record many of us doing a promotional plug for something he is planning to sell during the holiday season, but couldn't say what it is. I was recorded doing my bit (and I have to say, it has a very funny ending considering that Wiseau is in the shot) and also in a bonus telling the camera that "they float". Now to wait a while for him to process a video out of what he recorded in the future. I'm going to enjoy this...

By the time Doug is going to do some signing, the line capped out way too early due to the time allowed. Thankfully, me and several others who dressed up as characters from thatguywiththeglasses.com mentioned to him about doing a photo op during that time frame. So after a while we were able to make our way in and be amongst the last to get a group shot and get autographs. I got what I wanted autographed, had some face time and shook his hand. It was a satisfying and lucky break for the whole day.

The rest of the con was good fun as well! Got to see a lot of great cosplayers, saw some cool vehicles and got some great swag. For my first anime convention, I had a terrific time, and no doubt I will go again! Especially if Doug Walker will show up again. This is his second time at this con, so I will no doubt be paying attention for when he will show his face in Florida again...
