I think for sure that Masada-sensei must've been some kind of calming presence for Madotsuki, since his scene was so peaceful, and that something bad happened to him (like that crash)
I subscribe to the piano teacher idea, because it makes sense. I wrote out this super long theory when someone commented on one of my fanart, but basically yeah. Mado for sure felt at peace with him, enough to sleep in his bed without being afraid.
I mean outer-space, Mars, the dead planet, there's so much alluding to loneliness, isolation and quiet, while the gentle piano and table for two relate to a sentimentality and intimacy.
