A character's occupation is what they do with their time or for a living. This is not the same as a Class, and is more or less free for you to choose whatever you fancy. Do be sure to pick one which makes sense for your character's abilities, location and lifestyle though, and consider how they survive day-to-day!
Civilians
Civilian characters can have any occupation which you might find in the residence of your choosing. This could be anything from being a merchant, to a high-brow scholar, to a bandit or mercenary. Just about any ordinary occupation you can imagine in a fantasy setting is possible.
Nobility
Members can make characters in nobility (i.e. with land titles and political power), however to do so you must discuss your concept with the mod of the relevant city/region and ask for their permission. Not all regions have nobility, and those that do often have special names for and circumstances around the ranks. It is also a matter of courtesy to the mod, as having a noble means claiming some canonical influence on politics.
If you'd like a character in lesser nobility (i.e. without land and political power, equivalent of gentry) you generally don't need permission but are still strongly advised to ask the relevant region mod for the titles and other information.

Military
The dominant military forces in Alva belong to the Kingdom and Empire capitals. Many cities have local guard forces, however all ultimately fall under the Miras or Koben banner. Anyone can make characters of ordinary soldier rank, but if you want your character to have a higher military rank, you must ask for permission from the Miras or Koben mod.
Miras Royal Military
The Miras Royal Military is decorated with the bravest hearts in the Kingdom, a firm moral code and formidable magical power. The divisions are:
Miras Legion
The staunch and resilient land force, making up the bulk and backbone of the military.
Miras Flight Regiment
The pride of the Military, the flight regiment employs skilled mounted aerial fighters. The stables include all manner of creatures, including pegasi and eagriff.
Miras Armada
The naval force, responsible for patrolling and defending the territorial waters of Miras. The main fleet is based in Amedra.
Miras Royal Guard
The special troops of the military, comprising the finest and most highly trained personnel. They are tasked with a variety of specialised jobs, including secret missions, military policing, hybrid operations and guarding the royal family.
Koben Imperial Forces
The Koben Imperial Forces are known for their advanced man-made and alchemic technology, as well the fire of its soldiers. The divisions are:
Koben Army
Notorious for its ferocity, this is the ground force and pillar of the Koben Forces.
Koben Air Force
The most advanced airships and best pilots in the Empire make up the Koben Air Force. It is supported by a specialised engineering crew.
Koben Navy
The arm of the Forces tasked with national offense and protection on the sea. The main fleet is based in Linhythe.
Koben Imperial Guard
The elite of the armed forces in direct service to the Emperor. Protection of the Empire’s rulers, covert operations and special missions are in the remit of the Imperial Guard. Assassins are heavily made use of here; few know how far the secret network stretches.

Entry to these groups is at the discretion of the organisation owner rather than the group, so please contact the mod or member listed if you're interested in membership! If you have your own organisation (e.g. a pirate crew) and want to open it up for other people to join, send the group a note and we'll add it to the list. As I understand, Miras is more centered around Magic, while Koben - around Technology? But would something like a mage be acceptable in the Koben military?
Also, I see Infantry, Navy and Air Force, but no Armored Cores, such as Mechanized or Motorized Infantry, or possibly even Tank Divisions?

Magic is not exclusive to any one part of the map, so mages do exist in the Koben military and the Empire at large. However the Infantry, Navy, and Air Force are all that's available for military options in Koben. Hope this helps! o/

Both options are available! If someone doesn't have a mount then they'll be assigned one; if someone has a mount already then that mount will undergo some basic tests to make sure they're suitable for the Flight Regiment, then proceed as normal if they pass. :>

The Queen's Assassins has been a guild for about as long as the monarchy has been in place, so it's been quite a long time. You don't have to be a member of one of the guilds listed here. These are just a few optional organizations for characters. Some occupations are more common in certain locations (you won't be finding many botanists in Valsk, for example), so try to get a feel of the place you want your character to live when you're picking what they do. Hey, glad you're interested in the guilds! Either option is fine, but it depends on what you're wanting: if you're planning on a character that's "currently" a member of a guild, it's best to ask the guild mod first to make sure they meet any requirements. If you plan on them entering a guild in the future (for plot or character reasons) you can ask at your leisure. So as long as you get permission before considering it canon, either option should work! If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask ^^

Hi, sorry for the delay! Yes, they can be mute but it would not be put in a role that requires them to communicate a lot unless they have a good way to overcome their muteness. For example, a leadership position would be difficult but doing some kind of lone responsibilities (e.g. being a scrying operator in the army or an assassin in the Imperial Guard) would be plausible to me. Some do get transferred around and some stay at a single post for a long time - it's up to you X) They'd usually spend a minimum of three months at any particular post.

Hi!
The Tusa Military Academy is primarily an Institution to train and acquire new and specifically young soldiers. Although the Military does train Novices on their own, most go through the Academy for their Basic training and education. The Academy provides free dorms and food and offers the opportunity to pursue a University major for little to no tuition (tuition can be replaced with serving contracts for 20+ years).
So to answer your question: Yes the students all partake in daily combat and/or fitness exercise in varying degrees of intensity, depending on whether they chose to pursue a combat or a research career. Every freshman, independent of their major, has to absolve a 5 month basics camp. Further every student upon their graduation (3-6 years) is automatically obliged to serve in the Tusa army when called upon, for a minimum of 8 years post graduation.

generally students can enter as early as at the age of 14, the basic training camp in those cases gets put off until they reach 16 years. This applies to elves and humans likewise.
Depending on how big of a role the Academy plays in the characters history or how many details are involved, it's usually a good idea to bounce a short summary of the involvement to me and get it checked jic. If it's just a mention of attendance you don't need to request any special permission.

Being a peacekeeper is a full-time job, since you're working with investigating crime. You could conceivably combine it with being an artist, if you were an artist on your time off, but not combine it with a job as a tourist guide or anything else that requires steady hours and lots of available time.
