I have to say this, THANK YOU SO MUCH. Volleyball made me want to drop the series. Instead of Pink damaging her Pearl coming off as a surprise it made me roll my eyes instead saying, "Of course you went with that."
On that note how did you feel about Yellow able to restore a shattered gem? I honestly can't make up my mind on it; Yellow is actively trying to fix what she's done, and the Gem race have been compared to computers so it's possible. Yet it does remove the tension and consequences of shattering a Gem since they can be glued back together; Yellow just able to fix her mistakes, along with Steven in Jasper's case. Then againΒ shouldn't be to surprise; death is treated pretty inconsequential in this show.
I'm also aware White admits she's the catalyst for everything Pink did; but the way they did it comes off as "Here we acknowledged White's wrong doing, you can't say we didn't." That scene in general was hard to take seriously. Future comes off as weakly addressing criticism fans had last season, while adding new interesting stuff, Greg growing up in oppressive family, and never doing anything with it. I regret watching Future, it hard for me to watch the past seasons; episodes I loved and enjoyed, knowing this is were it was going to go.
Again thank you for posting this, it really helped me vent.Β Β Β Β

I feel like Future should have been focused on development for the Diamonds. In the Movie, we see they haven't changed their mentalities and only did what they did it to appease Steven. When I see this, I'd figured that was to tell the audience that the Diamonds still had developing to do. But when we actually see them in Future, they had already changed and we never see why. I'm glad they changed, but I wanted an arc to show the change. That's just me, though.
As for Pink, I'm really not fond of what they did to her in the movie and Future.

Yes, they could have cut episodes like "Snow Day" and "A Very Special Episode" and focus more on the Diamonds as well as Homeworld in general.
But too bad they thought Steven Tag and a PSA was way more important.
Though at least for the later, it could provide story-bits if Rainbow 2.0 and or Sunstone turned Pink (like Smokey Quartz did).
So that Pearl and/or Garnet could understand more about what was going on and maybe help Steven.Β
I also agree with what you said about Pink.

It's a little more than that. I feel that developing and redeeming the Diamonds (particularly White) would require at least 10 episodes. There was a Youtube video that outlined how White Diamond could have had an arc, and I liked the ideas mentioned.

I agree with that as well.
The Diamonds where redeemed way too quickly.
Yet Steven said that Aquamarine and Eyeball should not have been given a chance.

Iβm not sure, but Iβm guessing that Steven is having issues with the kind of person his mother was (or at least, used to be) with the person he grew up hearing about. Lord knows Iβve had that issue with creators I liked not turning out to be good people.. Β but thatβs just my take on it, what do you think?

I think that even if we learn that our parents or creators are not as great as we think they are.
We should still respect them for the things they did right and not constantly demonize them for what they did wrong.
Because most of the time, they did these nice things because they wanted to change from their former selves.

Agreed. Now if I can only get over my own hang-ups on the issue...

at least the other diamonds said it was all their fault in the finale, but i feel it was steven who needed to recognize how pink changed since the show comes from his perspective and what he thinks will influence how the audience sees things the most.
the parallels built up between steven and pink in future needed a final connection but it never happened, and that is what would have humanized pink since it would show that the way she acted before getting earth was bc she was in a similar position to the sweet uwu innocent baby steven now.
though honestly i don't see evidence in the show that she treated other gems like tools, at least not in the way the other diamonds did

Yeah, if the writers did not waste so much time on pointless stuff in SUF (such as Snow Day and A Very Special episode). Then they could have given us a scene were Pink reaches out to Steven, through his gem and help him deal with his issues.
So much wasted potential.

oh gosh no rose should not have directly communicated with steven and she's one of my favorite characters. i don't know why people would think that after change your mind, it would be in such poor taste. maybe a flashback like in change your mind at most, but no direct interactions. all the info he needed was available from people who he could talk to, which again was shown at least with white. the problem is they had her say the line he needed to hear when he was monster boy...

Okay then how about this:
Pearl and vollyball sits down with Steven and talks to him about Rose/Pink. He would not like it at first and turn pink. But then Pearl starts explaining how Pink was treated by the Diamonds (while she was her Pearl) and Volleyball explains what happened before that. As Steven listens to their stories and maybe gets some extra information from Garnet and Amethyst. He realizes that while Pink was not the best person, she still wanted the best for others. Including Greg and Steven. Over time Steven starts to respect Rose for who she wanted to be, not for who she used to be. Maybe he will even put up the Rose painting on his wall again.
But this is probably to hard for the writers to do. Instead they would focus on Steven teaching Spinel how to Dab and everyone finding out about Pearl's secret rap career.

Well, if Future had a few more episodes, maybe the writers would've included an arc where Steven eventually accepts that his mom wasn't perfect and that she tried to become a better person.

Yes, that is exactly what Future needed.
To bad it never happened.

Yeah. Instead, we got a monster transformation that was resolved with a group hug.

Indeed.
If they didn't waste so much time in the first half of Future, then maybe the finale would not have been so rushed... again.

After thinking about it. I do like the idea of a bunch of Homeworld Gems starting a rebellion against Steven.
Like Aquamarine, Eyeball, Holly Blue Agate, Mean Lapis and perhaps Emerald, Morganite and a few others. Maybe while fighting them, Steven loses control and becomes Stevenzilla. But after defeating the rebellion, Steven cannot revert back to his old self due to the trauma he has suffered and attacks his friends.
Like he did in "I am my Monster".

Then maybe Steven just becomes a larger version of "Chad Steven". But the rest remains the same, with Steven losing his mind and accidentally attacks his friends.

In case you wonder "Chad Steven" is the nickname the fandom gave the form Steven was in after training with Japser and during "Everything's Fine".
You know, with him being twice as tall and with diamond eyes.

Nothing. I was just concerned about the idea you had about Steven going insane and attacking his friends.
Personally, I would've prefered some sort of inner strugge where Steven fights Pink Steven in the mindscape for total control of his body.

Maybe he is fighting Pink Steven inside his mind and it affects his actions in the "real world", where he accidentally hurts his friends without knowing it.

Well, I assume this battle in the mind would happen while Steven is unconscious in the waking world.

He could collapse after the Gem Rebellion has been defeated.
Perhaps the Gems find a way to see what is happening inside Steven's mind and gives him to support that he needs. This allows him to overpower Pink Steven and win. Then he wakes up and the scenes plays out like it did after Stevenzilla was "defeated" (except without the Cluster). the Diamonds could show up after the battle is over to hand over Stevens "Foot Thong Thingie"

Hmm... That does sound like an interesting idea.
Maybe while trapped in the mindscape (with Pink Steven, of course), Steven would try to use his new powers to contact his friends through a TV or smartphone. Kinda like how he projected his dreams and memories on his TV.
And perhaps Steven would cry not because he scared his friends half to death by collapsing from exhaustion but because he thought he'd never see them again.
