Description A short while after I made the picture that showed how the Squirtle-family could have been. I remembered how the Caterpie-family was supposed to be.

All you have to do, is to line up the Caterpie-family and teh Venonat-line and take a look at all of them. It makes perfect sense that Venonat was supposed to evolve into Butterfree and Metapod into Venomoth. But as I have heard, it was the anime that made Gamefreak swap the final evolutions of these families. Because Venomoth was apperantly "too creepy" for a main character to own, while Venomoth would fit a "villian" better.

Yes, I know. It does not make any sense. Sure Butterfree is "cuter" than Venomoth, but I am sure people would have loved Ash getting Venomoth back in that episode, instead of Butterfree. Though I suppose the mindset within Gamefreak back then was very, different from now on. I mean, eventually Roy's Fuecoco will evolve into Skeledirge and it does look like a Pokémon that a "villian" would own. But if Pokémon Horizons aire din the 90's, Skeledirge would have been replaced or redesigned. Maybe the same thing would have happened to Meowscarada, because Liko's Sprigatito will eventually evolve into one as well.

I am sure that we are not going to get any changes that swaps the evolutions to two Pokémon-familes that have existed since Gen 1. Otherwise, it probably would have been done a very long time ago. One thing is for sure, if these families were like this game in Gen 1. I would not have been mad about it. It just makes so much more sense. They would obviously have their names swaped of maybe even recieve different names all-together.

What do you think though?
Are you let down that these two families got mixed up and changed to suit the anime of all things? Though if there were any other reasons why this happened, feel free to tell me about it.

These are just my two cents though.
