Pretty happy with how this quick piece turned out! I have a very basic knowledge of traditional marker shading, but this is one of the first traditional artworks I’ve rendered in a LONG while without the use of ANY references!

This artwork was inspired by the backstory of one of my new roleplay characters, Rainfall of the Seawings! Her father, Algae of the Seawings, was born magicless… though later met the love of his life: Shipwreck of the Seawings. As it turned out, Shipwreck was an animus. A peaceful, empathetic one at that. As time passed, Algae grew restless and jealous, and managed to COUGHgaslightCOUGH Shipwreck into transferring her magic to him. Things went wrong immediately. In the span of one night, Algae managed to accidentally kill a whole wing of sandwing outclaws after him, as well as his own brother: Emerald. He then fled into the sea… to remain in hiding as The Rogue Animus for years to come. This event is what inspired Rainfall to flee the kingdom of the sea in protest of her father’s actions. She posed a deal to him: She’d come back, if he surrendered all of his magic back to her mother Shipwreck. To this day, Rainfall refuses to speak to Algae.
