I heard of some software called Apophysis. It however doesnt work on Linux. Suggest any alternatives?

Never actually tried to render anything under Linux. Either search for something in the web or download some apo flames packs. There are some cool stuff uploaded around

very nice, but what does it mean in the creative commons license where it says "NoDerivatives — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you may not distribute the modified material." --can this be used as a background for a render ?

It means for me that one should ask before using. I usually agree my artworks to be used for whatever, but some ppl don't even have the decency to ask. Anyway if you want to use it as a bg do so and drop a link afterwards to see what you have done
