A remnant concept from the Xinese Caliphate, the Imperial Arch-Knight is the head of the Scarlet Empire's military force. Some are selected personally by the Emperor themselves, while most are elected through popular vote in the Scarlet Courts. While, historically, the Scarlet Emperor was the one to lead the Imperials to victory, the start of the 2nd Age brought about this new structure to the Empire's chain of command.

Most, if not all, recorded Arch-Knights were previously Imperial Arc-Knights and as such retain the training, physical prowess, and longevity befitting their former title. But, in addition to combat roles, the Arch-Knight also acts as the Emperor's voice and personal envoy. As such, most Emperors and their chosen Arch-Knights maintain close friendships.

As of the Year 1281, 2nd Age; the current Arch-Knight is Ulysses Forthe, chosen by Emperor Trefor during the Age of Ruin.
The pair of them worked flawlessly together and were instrumental in reducing the damage wrought during the tumultuous time.

Currently, a rumor persists in The Capital that Trefor wishes to retire early and cede the crown to Ulysses.
