Last night I was going through the Water Temple in OoT (MASTER QUEST to be exact
) and lo and behold I'm in the infamous mini boss battle with Dark Link, said to be the hardest mini boss in OoT. Pfpfpfpfffffptpfptpftffffft, HE'S NOT SO TOUGH SERIOUSLY. I was kicking his ebil ass all over the place. In fact, around the end of the battle he actually started to RUN AWAY FROM ME. NO JOKE. I didn't use any items. All good ol' Master Sword up in here. You can beat him easy too. Just refrain from L targeting and come at him like a maniac, the way you would usually NOT fight. Granted, you will get beat up a little. If you're not that great of a fighter, I'd suggest bringing a fairy. Didn't have to use any of mine though.

I remember when I fought him. I just did what I usually do… run into a fight and just blindly slash the master sword like crazy. It worked pretty well.

fought him like a man/child. Z-targeting(N64), fairies, and master sword.

Ah...I think I did that the first time.
But then, to avoid losing life I started using Din's fire (and magic).
...And then, told me that you can easily and very quickly beat him with the megaton hammer! 8-D So coooool. :-D

Lol, its happened to me too. I agree that he's he most difficult mini-boss, but he still be an easy one for me.

I always beat him with Biggoron's sword, stay just out of his reach and swing so that the very tip hits him, that way you can L target all you want and he can't do crap.

This shadow link is so easy... Yep, on the master quest too! I defeated him with the biggoron's sword in one minute LOL

i think bosses and mini bosses r easier in master quest, but the puzzles r harder D:<

He's probably thinking "Ganon did NOT inform me of THIS!!!" Or something like that, in Dark Link manner.
I tried the technique, but probably failed a bit. For most of the fight, it was funny when he'd keep backflipping back. But at the end at the fight, just before I defeated him he went berserk and wouldn't let me get near him - at all.
I resorted to the Magnaton hammer. xD

Much better than any other strategy. That "Use the hammer!" stuff didn't cut it, he came slashing and blocked every swipe I sent his way. Then I got pissed and did as you said here. He went down in less than a minute.

Oh god, this is hilarious.
I actually just mashed the B button nonstop and sometimes hit him between his attacks. It actually worked sometimes!
I was too dense to think of NOT using the targeting mechanism, because I do it by habit at this point, haha. In fact, I berate my younger neighbor(who was trying out Twilight Princess) for constantly attempting to kill monsters WITHOUT targeting.
Shoot, though, I wish I could've been there to see him run away. It's almost funnier when a joke like this occurs in-game as a rare occurrence. XP

I actually found an easier stratedgy:
If you Target him and try to walk up to him, he will do a backflip. You can land an easy jump attack while he is flipping.
Two Jump Attacks and he's toast. But that is pretty funny that he started to run away XD

I never did like doing the adventure to get the long sword. It drove me nuts because of the time limits. But that's the weapon I use to defeat DL everytime. He's my fav mini boss of all of Ocarina of Time. XD

I died 50 some times when i was a kid fighting that little black fucker but now I kick his ass in like 2 try's. never seen him run away though, oh well.

you drew dark link properly! So many people draw him so strangely.... acctually, he's just a shadow. in the NES one, you don't see any features on him.

Of course I drew him properly. Only yaoi fangirls draw him all bishi-like lololololol Auuughhhh... One of these days I need to tackle Link's Adventure again. That game was so hard. Maybe it'll be easier now.

you what was strange? I have the collector's edition for ame cube, and when we beat shadow link, the game kinda stops. we can't go anwhere... then again, we're using cheats, so maybe it had an effect... I have the NES version, but we havn't beaten it yet to see if the samething happens. Was it the cheats, the game or something we're not doing???
