Description Yet another character from Cheer! , Karen is the (Unofficial) Sun Goddess of Tandy Gardens. She's very athletic and an excellent surfer. For most beach activities she wears a one-piece suit. Of course this inevitably creates large tan lines, so periodically she switches to something much smaller to deal with that problem.

The detailing on the fabric worked a lot better on this one. Taking the time to go in with a small brush and do highlighting on fabric folds makes all the difference in the world. Of course it also underscores my need for a drawing tablet for my computer; my detailing is currently being done with a Logitech roller mouse, and it feels awfully clumsy compared to an actual pen or pencil.

I have some suntan lotion if needed... Very nice, especially the tan lines.

Why do girls do that? (not that I'm complaining!)

Gotta keep the tan lines to a minimum. 'Course you'd have to remove everything to really deal with the problem, but I think most public beaches don't allow that.

Which is a shame.

Wow! You do your art with a mouse?! I thought you used a tablet!! That is really really impressive!
I like this character a lot! She is really pretty and she looks so relaxed! Wonderful job of the clothing folds, by the way! Looks really realistic! Great job! I like it a lot!

I do my -coloring- with a mouse. The lineart is drawn by hand using Micron Pigma pens and then scanned into Photoshop for coloring. (So they start as Traditional but then become Digital, and I'm never sure which side of the fence they fall on, so err on the side of Digital since that's where all the color and composition work happens. )

Having said all that, the value of a tablet is becoming more obvious with each piece I do. A mouse isn't the same as an actual pen when it comes to doing fine detail lines in fabric or hair, and I find myself needing fine detail lines a lot more lately. And if I could get good lineart out of the tablet that'd take the guesswork out of the whole traditional vs. digital thing. Not to mention cut way down on paper usage too.
