Description I´m really happy with this drawing, because I totally fail at drawing realistic birds- and this time, the raven does actually look like a raven! Yay!!
At first, I wanted to draw only the bird, but then I thought that it would look very nice if I´d put a pair of wolf eyes in the background...

I love reading wolf books, and there is one thing that I noticed:
In almost every book, there are also ravens mentioned... Examples are The Chronicles of the Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver, The Wolf Chronicles by Dorothy Hearst (though I still have not read Secrets of the Wolves, but I hope I´ll get it this Christmas) and of course David Clement-Davies´books!
Even in the mythologies of old cultures, like Vikings or Native Americans, ravens play the role as the companions of wolves..

The reason for that is that in nature wolf packs are often followed by ravens. The ravens eat all the rests that the wolves leave over from the kill, and in opposite the wolves protect the ravens from predators. The wolves carefully observe the raven´s behavior, because ravens often signal if there is food or danger...
In Jim Brandenburg´s book "Brother Wolf - a forgotten promise" there is an interesting part about the relation between wolves and ravens.
This is a thing that absolutely fascinates me! And I want to express this kind of companionship with this drawing...

This is a great concept.
Strength and loyalty of wolves, combined with the mastery and intelligence of ravens. The lions and vultures of Africa don't quite have the mystique like wolves and ravens do.

Love the eyes, they leap right off the screen!

Yepp, Peter and the Wolf! But I only like this version, the Disney one is all crap.... (although I´m not a Disney hater)

I like that version too, its so original and speaks truth about how nature really is a monster on its own sometimes. O.O *nom nom nom* good bye sweet duck.

This drawing is no specific PATW fan art (I have some PATW fan arts in my gallery either), it just expresses the symbiosis between wolves and ravens...

and yes, that´s also what I like about the Templeton version. It shows that nature is not always peaceful....and although the wolf eats the duck, it is not portrayed as "the evil one who needs to be killed" like in the Disney version..she (yes, that wolf is a GIRL!) ate it because she was hungry...
I also like the depiction of Peter as a victim of bullying who is very compassionate about nature and animals- not like the Disney Peter, who is a wanna-be-hunter who wants to bring down a wolf with a childish popgun (how idiotic!)
Suzie Templeton is just more realistic! (although the duck looks like a plushie and the cat looks like the offspring of Garfield and the Cheshire Cat)

Originally, Suzie Templeton wanted the wolf to have puppies at the end (it killed the duck in order to feed the puppies with iz) but sadly she dropped the idea because it was too much work for her (and the entire movie took 4 years to be made!)
