Description Updated 10/05/2009 @ 19:06

This is a photographic footnote that has been sitting around on my HDD for a little over twelve months. It was taken in Cramlington Park into the wan sunlight that was illuminating the scene at the time.

The title is taken from the Max Richter track of the same name; and is of an appropriately melancholic nature to fit with this piece. The track itself can be heard here .

I hadn't realized you had a deviation with this name. I love Max Richter! Was introduced to him in Shutter Island's soundtrack (in which the track is paired fantastically with This Bitter Earth: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXHGoa… , and need to listen to more of his work.

Ah, yes indeed; he has a fine repertoire of works.

A delicious feast of antitheses, this is.

It somehow reminds me of a warm summer morning. When it's so early everybody's still asleep and I'm outside, on my bike, listening to Radiohead because I've had an annoying sleepless night that I'm eventuelly grateful for because it's so nice to be alone once in a while.

I hope that made sense. Anyway...I love it!

Yeah, it makes sense; I regularly go on early-morning walks myself when the weather here allows for it: it's my favourite time of day. Anyway, thank-you for the comment.

The contrast between sharp spikes and soft background is really adorable.

Thank-you for the comment, I appreciate it. I did worry that the image would be too dark; the sky blowing out was an issue in other shots from the same session.

Love the darkness for its sense of mystery and the white background just take your eyes forever....

I'm glad you think that way about the piece; thanks again.

It truly comes though. It's so quiet, beautiful and melancholy...

I'm having to fight with myself to avoid replying to that with any one from a range of sardonic statements, hah. I think I've succeeded.

So far, anyway.

Glad to see you're still alive and posting sir! And you are quite right, the photo could easily go with Richter's song.

Yeah, I'm still mostly upright. Not much time for photography at present though which is ironic considering I'm on a photography course. Hah. Anyway, glad you agree with the track selection.

Lovely - I'm bad at giving long, articulate explanations as to why I like a photo, so I'll just leave it at that.

I don't even have anything intelligent to say to this, such is the way it blew me away and left me mostly speechless.

It's an image that I have always meant to upload at some point in time, I just never got around to it for reasons unknown. Today was the day for it, I guess. I'm glad that you like it, anyway.
