The temple--not just anyone can enter here!
For my first lion of 2011, I wanted to try a slightly different color scheme. I seldom use orange or vivid cobalt blue, let alone together, so the combination of the two proved quite fun. This is quite the eye-catcher in person--even after color correction, the scan doesn't do him justice.

Absolutely dream-like! I actually prefer the more muted colors with the stronger contrast between the aquas and golds. He is gorgeous!

Thank you, Elly dear! In person, I genuinely love the painting as-is because he captures so much light. Online only do I prefer the filtered version, as the scan came out so dull. Even so, I do like the idea of lions in sacred settings and will likely had another go at the concept in the near future. There's just no getting away from my painted pride!

Thank you! I dearly wish the colors hadn't scanned so dully, as even color correction in Photoshop can't make them pop the way they do in person.

aww haha this lion looks so sweet. I love the little pose he's in. it's like he's just a puppy wanting to play....but then you have to remember he is not at all like a puppy...and he'd probably try to eat you if you tried to play with him

This is beautiful I love the colour scheme it was the first thing that grabbed me eye.
The lion looks a little sad which make me think that maybe he is thinking about handing over his role as guardian of The Temple to his son. The sunset in the background mirrors thats as it sets on one way of life and rises on a new one.
