This is an incredible shot, I did wonder what I was looking at to begin with as the smaller view does not do it justice.
I love the detail, the sharpness of the immage is clear and the fact that I can see the dimples in the carpace is testament to that.
It is wonderfull to see a beetle of this kind so closely, a very humbling picture as it shows natures true strength and beauty.
I love the way the light hits the back of the beetle too.
You have done a fantastic job capturing the antteni and the upper body of this little fellow.
The colours are simple, nothing needs to be done to enhance it at all, as I say with all nature photos why change natural beauty.
I am not sure of the type of beetle this is so it would be useful if you put in your comment the name of creature you have taken here.
A great shot, that gives us something to think about, nature rules us in many ways.
Great piece of work well done.a.deviantart.net/avatars/x/p/x… " alt=" " title="Xpose-it"/>

Great macro! He's perfectly in focus. The colors on his exoskeleton are so vibrant. You can see the details so perfectly. He looks like a little king with his horned crown. The background and your watermark isn't distracting at all. And the lighting was just right. Great job!

Ooo pretty shot, what kind of beatle is that? And I agree, there are so many small critters that need our attention and love.

good technique, bro! first thing i noticed was the color red, it really gives life to a potentially monotonous shot. depth of field is also a factor that makes this work, you've focused around one of the eyes and it gives us a bit of texture and detail- just enough to keep us interested but not so much that it detracts from the almost ethereal take on your subject. in other words you've chosen to focus on the most important parts, and it works wonderfully.

i was just curious bro, are there any upsides or downsides to using a reverse lens? and where did you get yours? is it a good compromise from a dedicated macro lens or is it more of a pain?

thanks for your critique comment!

yes, there is a downside of using reverse lens.
first, you dont have any control on the focus of your subject. second, you cant adjust your f-stop. and third your camera is expose to dirt.

yup, i've tried it and i couldn't focus properly haha though it's another approach i'd be willing to try again in the future (short of trying on magnification filters and an actual macro lens). anyway thanks bro! and good job!

I'm usually creeped out by close-ups like this because I have an extreme insect-phobia, but this is beautiful! XD Amazing shot.
