I always scan my artworks before uploading them here. I'm not sure if you have realized or not but all of my artworks have some high contrast in shading, as in my sketches, you can see dark black and white, but the subtle differences in the variety of my grays are not so notable.
Now I have this issue with my color pencil artworks as well. Despite trying a few different scanners, I still can't get an appropriate color for my scans. They are either too dark or too invisible. Thus I have to take a photo and upload that, instead of the scanned pic (my ED and Ein fanart from Cowboy Bebop for instance).
Another unfortunate influence in colorful artworks is that in the faulty scans, the colors don't blend in quite well and they look kinda raw and linear, while they look pretty good in real life. In a good artwork, as you know, you shouldn't be able to follow the path of the artist's pencils and their lines, unless it is an expressive artwork.
In my case, all the time I work so hard on them so that they'd combine well together and give me ripe сolors and academically acceptable patterns. My teacher is also very sensitive and strict about making colors and finishing every artwork decently.
This artwork as an example, I scanned it in 2 different centers but they both look too light and pale. So I guess I might try taking a photo of this and replace that with the pale scan later. :/
