Commission for one of my happy returning clients, , who requested that a certain famous Tomb Raider™ get caught up in a trap that ended with her as an Egyptian-style carved (bas-relief) wall sculpture. And as a fan of both statue-transformation and Lara Croft getting the brunt of it, I was happy to oblige.

I've considered trying something like this a couple times, but usually the urge fades when I try to work out the details of how to make one really stand out from some of the other works I've seen done out there... I like to try to push the envelope, often with mixed results. So instead of the half-embedded in the wall "carbonite" style of relief I might usually try, I asked if he'd be willing for me try something a bit different from my usual fare. I mucked about with some material presets I never even really considered before, including some serious displacement mapping, to get the final picture, and moved the lighting to get the best effect. In the end, that last picture is barely retouched.

And since my last commission from him took as long as it did and I still feel really bad about it, I offered to throw in a little extra 'pre-final outcome backstory' with this commission. The story may not be the best work ever, but I like how it turned out... hopefully he will too!

Done up over the course of two weeks in Poser/Cinema 4D/Photoshop. Bam. Edited because I forgot my own f****g signature on it.
