Yes, Sam always carries everythingΒ But that's what I like about him: while everyone else is busy thinking about THE CAUSE itself, Sam also manages not to forget about all the practical things to make the journey more comfortable.

Exactly! Though I really didn't know why the movies made him fat, though - I never imagined him to be like that while reading the books. You know, the actor who plays him, Sean Astin, had to deliberately gain weight to play Sam. XD
If you want to go on an adventure, make it comfortable! - me XD

Well, as for Sam's weight - in fact, I don't mind if he's plump Being plump is part of being a hobbit, I think. And considering that Sam is a very "hobbit-like hobbit" - practical, optimistic and rosy-cheeked, probably his weight only makes him nicer in the moviesΒ

Well, yes, but I think Sean Astin didn't have to gain weight just to play Sam.
