Why is Winter significant?
Well, it's because that's when Mica found(saved?) her adoptive daughter, Gigi.

Gigi had gotten caught in a massive snowstorm running from... something.
The only reason why Mica even went out in the storm in the fist place was because Elias and Talon woke her up in the middle of the night claiming to hear something in the wind. With a bit of persuasion, she went out, and ended up finding the small, nearly frozen teenager under the snow and brought her back to the castle.
Because of that, Gigi has a dislike/fear for Winter and snow/ice, often immediately hiding out in the castle with the first sign of the white flurries. But it does remind her of how she came to have a family, even though she's still pretty secretive about where she came from... if she can even remember.
