While the plot of android murders isn't new (which makes sense cause, ya know, civil rights involved murder too), having Gavin in on it is not only unique, but almost expected.
Especially if the anti-free-android group is human (which it most likely is), something tells me Gavin would be all over it.

That's exactly it! Even though Gavin still works for the DPD (and is probably also involved in a measure of the murder investigations), I can't imagine he'd just suddenly be okay with the success of the revolution. So of course he would find other like-minded people and join their cause.
When it comes to the group in question, I actually do imagine there would be some androids that were brought in on it as well. I was inspired by the story in Exodus after Moses led the Israelites out of slavery, but not all of them were happy about it and complained about their freedom - even going so far as to wish they were back in Egypt! It's difficult for me to imagine that every single android was completely on board with Markus, just like it's hard for me to imagine that every single human was against the androids in the first place. So the group who wants to get rid of the androids would manipulate the ones who don't care about being free and probably employ them to do some of their dirty work.
It widens the playing field that way. There are humans trying to help the androids, and there are androids fighting against other androids. Everyone's a suspect at that point because it'd be hard to know who to trust, but not everyone is the enemy, either.
Either way, whether that concept actually works out or not is something I'm still deciding on. I feel like going in that kind of direction is more intriguing (to me, at least) because then the murders could be caused by anyone. It'd be harder to pin down suspects at that point.
shoot I'm so sorry for rambling so bad hfdgnf

I was actually hoping you'd bring up androids in the group. An idea popped in my head about some android saying, "And when we're done, I'll have no more purpose. The humans will kill me. And I look forward to it."
Funny that you mention Exodus; I've written a short where two androids actually run away from the revolution. And then I just uploaded another installment of "Their Story," where an android is terrified and wonders if it wouldn't've been better to stay slaves.
Geez... that means Markus is Jesus AND Moses. ... Why can't he just be Robo-Moses? Moses was cast into the desert for years, just like Markus was cast into the dump.
Don't worry about it, sweetheart. Our conversations begin again!
Now I'm imagining Connor pulling his hair out, trying to find the connection among all these murderers.

It's crazy to think we're legit on the same page when it comes to some of the androids resenting the revolution for their own reasons. Maybe some of them were too scared to stand up and fight for freedom? Maybe some of them actually felt that there was nothing wrong with their programming and enjoyed helping the humans like they were built to do? The possibilities are endless.
When it comes to the humans' involvement, I know I had a hard time with the fact that no humans joined the revolution and fought on the androids' side in-game. I know if that happened in real life, there would be plenty of humans who would make a choice to stand with the androids. It's a shame that wasn't touched on in the game aside from maybe Rose and Hank (somewhat).
I kinda like the idea of Markus being more of a Moses figure than anything, really. ;o;;
And yes! Having it set up this way really gives Connor (and Hank!) more of a challenge in trying to solve the mystery. I'm such a sucker for complicated mystery stories that have lots of contradictions in them, so that's sort of my goal with this, I suppose. I feel like I'm not clever enough to work out all of the plot holes in a way that's engaging and nuanced, but the concept is there and that's what matters.

It's crazy to think we're on the same page on many subjects in DBH. And yet, here we are. Spent too much time making those sync...
There are so many possibilities, and each android would have a slightly different reason.
Especially in our day and age, where the two and a half youngest generations would be all for real and humanized AI, there would be at least a secret society of humans who are working towards android freedom.
And even with Rose and Hank, there are so many forces trying to get them to go against the androids: Rose with her son, Hank with the DPD and memory of his son.
Here here! All for calling Markus "Robo-Moses"?
The best writing can still be torn down by a lack of interesting concept. So you're halfway there!
Well, if you need help brainstorming plot holes and mysteries, I'm always here.

I definitely agree! While the game boasts a "realistic" approach to the concept of androids being integrated into society, there are still things in the game that I find hard to accept. What you said about the younger generations being more open to humanized AI is definitely true, and is something that I feel was probably overlooked just a bit when writing the game.
omg yes haha my friend and I have been calling Markus "disaster Jesus" but I like Robo-Moses too lol
And I certainly appreciate it! I'm not usually one to just dump my ideas on someone unless asked beforehand (out of courtesy, really), but if you ever have any suggestions for the mystery side of things, I'm definitely all ears. ;0;

There are definitely a lot of negative feelings towards androids in the game. Unfortunately, we don't really get the younger human generations' viewpoints because the lowest human ages we see are about 30-40; but, that means that they are of our generation. And if I know anything about our generation, it's that we love our technology and equality. So there's definitely a hidden organization somewhere in the DBH universe that Quantic Dream just hasn't tapped into yet.
I recently watched "Joseph King of Dreams" again, and yeah the parallels are definitely there. Even the love interest reminds me a lot of North: natural leader, stubborn, not a fan of men, and somehow ends up marrying our protagonist (who is a man).
Sure thing!
And you know where to find me for brainstorming.

Not quite tho! Emma is human, and I would assume that a few of the kids at the park in Markus's opening chapter are most likely human as well. Obviously child androids are a thing and I'm sure there are a huge variety of them too, but human children are still around. But as far as viewpoints are concerned, you're right - there's that whole young adult/teenager generation that is completely ignored in the game. I would have liked to hear their opinion on what was going on too... especially if some of those kids grew up with androids in the house (like Emma) who are very attached to their caretakers!
Oh! Do you mean The Prince of Egypt? the Joseph movie was another bible story entirely haha. I actually remember seeing the former in the theater when I was younger - it was one of my favorite movies growing up. Still a marvel of 2D animation to this day, honestly. ;o;

This is true. However, asides from the short selfie video and one kid who runs up to their android in the park for a hug, we don't hear any opinions of younger generations.
I would guess that it is, again, similar to American slavery: the children grew to love their nannies and housekeepers, but were taught by their parents to treat them as lower than humans. However, since androids had only been in circulation for one generation, there wasn't hundreds of years for all the animosity to develop between humans and androids. The only thing fueling that division was an internal need to control another living (or "living") thing.
Yes. I meant Prince of Egypt. You see which of those two I think about more?
I don't think we went to see them in theatres, but my best friend had a period of time where she was obsessed with The Prince of Egypt. She was particularly interested in the actress who played Moses' mom, mostly because her beautiful voice sang in Hebrew.
And yes, it is a marvel. And even more beautiful because it blends 2D and 3D animation flawlessly. I wish more movies were (or, ya know, go back animators and do it again) made with both 2D and 3D animations.

oh gosh, thank you! I'm still trying my best to figure out huge chunks of the concept (it's honestly a lot to work on for a little ol' gal like me haha), but if you had any questions, I wouldn't mind attempting to answer!
aaaa ;0;; <33 thank you so, so much. I assume you mean "handwriting," yes? In that case, I can never decide between all caps and cursive when writing speech in art, because I typically write in cursive normally but I've heard a lot of younger folks today can't read it. So I hope to find a balance there so anyone can ;o;

haha, it's all good! no worries ;w;
oh gosh I remember having to practice writing cursive when I was like, 7? I used to hate it a lot but I've returned to it in recent years and prefer writing that way over normal print. But yeah haha I do try to be mindful of folks online, but it's hard sometimes when I just naturally want to write in cursive lolol
Anyway! I definitely appreciate the interest! thank you ;w;;
