haha it's an interesting show, to say the least - definitely not on like, Avatar levels when it comes to fantastic Nickelodeon cartoons, but still pretty fun in its own right! :0

Mm, but it sounds like it has a fun concept, and the fanbase from what I've seen is still fairly active, which is always a bonus.

Yeah, that's one of the things that really shocked me after getting into the series again was how dedicated the fanbase is! They really seemed to have taken the general concept of the show and built on it to the point where everything is more fleshed out (and actually makes sense sometimes lol)!

I know I'm definitely guilty of doing the same; overanalyzing everything and such, haha. But it's definitely fun. There's enough material in the show to work with and talk about, for sure. ;o;

Honestly, tho, that sometimes can really help make a show all that more endearing to fans. Plus, it's fun to go into a show knowing that if I would have liked to see a plot point more fleshed out, there's probably a fanfiction somewhere that talks about it.

oh hoho yeah there's like, 15+ years' worth of fanfiction for you to go through within the DP fandom haha! So you'll definitely have a LOT of material to wade through if you feel like you're lacking content after watching the show lol

either way, whether you decide to jump into it or not, I'm glad you've been enjoying the fanart, regardless! <3

xD Good to know!

^^ I really have! And it's definitely on my list of shows to watch. Maybe after I eventually finish Inuyasha and Sailor Moon Crystal.

I've never seen either Inuyasha or Sailor Moon (anime isn't really my thing lol), but I should hope you've been enjoying them so far? I'm sure it takes a while to actually sit down and watch all of them because there's so many episodes!!! :00

xD Both are pretty good, I'm just bad at putting off watching things, even if I want to watch it. Idk why? I just...abandon shows for a while, and then I come back to them and I'm like: 'Why did I abandon this for so long???'

AriaPianissima In reply to Tears-of-Xion [2019-07-17 19:15:31 +0000 UTC]

omfg literally same hahaha - it always takes me so long to actually watch something in general even if I know I'll like it xD abandoning shows for a while is definitely a normal thing too lol so I totally get how that is haha

xD I mean, I did get up to like, episode 70 of Inuyasha before I took a break, so it might just have been some sort of fatigue?

AriaPianissima In reply to Tears-of-Xion [2019-07-18 23:55:24 +0000 UTC]

boi I feel that tho - if a show has a lot of episodes, it better hold my attention all the way through or else I'll A. get bored, or B. stop watching it and then forget to go back to it lol

70 episodes in isn't bad tho! I know by anime standards, that's usually just scratching the surface lol but still!

xD Yeah. Though, to be fair, I didn't realize that this show had so many episodes when I first started it, since all I knew was that Netflix had two seasons of it, and I erroneously assumed that meant that they had all of it.

I totally forgot that he has some ice powers.

gosh, thanks! And yeah - I really wish they had done more with the ice powers earlier on in the show, it's such a fun concept!!

I know right. Or that he could clone himself.
For me the best power he got was the Ghost howl, but to be fair it was because of the awesome 2 part episode that made it my favorite power.

AriaPianissima In reply to Rockracoonbomb [2019-07-03 19:38:58 +0000 UTC]

gosh, I 100% agree. That episode certainly was the highlight of the series - I feel like it set a REALLY high bar for what the show could be. And yes!! the ghostly wail really is the best power - the fact that Danny learned it so quick just by seeing his older self do it? super cool imo. ;o;

Rockracoonbomb In reply to AriaPianissima [2019-07-03 21:13:30 +0000 UTC]

I know right. The build up was so good from that one wrong thing he did, and the lesson he learned from it. I know it was the basic don't cheat in life, but how they execute it was incredebil. How many times it saw he was not going to make it, he did things that his future self didn't count on when everything looked grimm.
What an episode.
I totaly forgot that the antaganist was actully a mix of Vlade's and Danny's ghost part.
Did he kill the future human Danny, memory is a little cloudy there.

AriaPianissima In reply to Rockracoonbomb [2019-07-03 21:30:13 +0000 UTC]

It really was such a strong episode in light of all the others in the show, even though the pacing of it needed some work, in my opinion. But the overall plot and the way it was handled was really well done considering the restraints that the show seemed to have. I think what made it stand out was how it handled the darker themes that the premise of the show set up, but was too "afraid" to fully flesh out up until that point. :0

I feel like the ramifications of what happened in that episode should've had more long-lasting effects on the characters - specifically Danny, considering he basically watched his family die and stuff? I mean, that's really messed up and I feel like that would bother him for a long time... instead of just bouncing right back to normal in the very next episode like none of it even happened. ugh

anyway yeah - the evil Danny did kill his human half. :c it was just a brief segment and the episode didn't linger on it for too long, but still made it pretty clear in its own way.

Rockracoonbomb In reply to AriaPianissima [2019-07-03 21:57:58 +0000 UTC]

Gotcha, thanks. Oh I agree. To see his familie die with his own eyes would make some great storylines in the future, if they had improved the idea, even if the timelord saved them.
Or Sam and Tucker, because they almost died and mabey they learned to be more carefull and mabey have a episode with them and Danny's Parent's so they could have learned some tricks to fight ghost more aggressiv.
But I'm just spitballing, could be that it is just a stupid headcannon in my head.😄
But season three and the final episode. Oh boy.

AriaPianissima In reply to Rockracoonbomb [2019-07-03 22:09:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah!! I feel like it would have been nice to at least see the characters react to what happened afterwards - maybe Danny starts getting more protective of his friends and family to be absolutely sure that nothing bad will happen to them, maybe Sam and Tucker are more willing to give Valerie a chance because of her ghost-hunting skills, etc. There's definitely a lot that could have been expounded on :0

haha, spitballing is totally fine - I do it all the time as well! xD it's always a lot of fun to think about the "what-ifs" when there's certainly potential to work with.

Oh gosh... yeah I have quite a few opinions on the show's finale lol. Season 3 was just alright at best (ignoring the fact that a lot of it was pretty out of character), but Phantom Planet was... pretty abysmal, in my honest opinion xD Given the fact that it was a rushed finale though, it kinda makes sense why it ended up that way.

Rockracoonbomb In reply to AriaPianissima [2019-07-03 22:32:45 +0000 UTC]

Haha nice to hear spitballing is a good think here.

I think Phantom Planet could have been a good final episode, because they had some good ideas. Like the astroid that is flying on the Planet good idea in concept, if they would have been more focused on the characters themself and didn't take Danny's powers, because he thinks he is not needed, especially if they already gad an episode about that.
And don't get me wrong, but it felt a little bit to "cartoony". I know I must sound like an Idiot, but I think that the show is still is a little bit more grounded to real life I you know what I mean.
But it is still funny to think about Tucker to be the mayor of the city.😋

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AriaPianissima In reply to Rockracoonbomb [2019-07-03 22:55:38 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I feel like as a general concept, Phantom Planet was okay, but the way the characters were treated and how they acted felt very out of character, considering everything that they had gone through before. :0 So it was mostly the characterization that made it personally hard to watch, I think.

Plus, as someone on tumblr had pointed out in a post, the fact that they showed that the Fenton Portal could just be turned off with the flick of a switch in Phantom Planet completely invalidates the entire show and everything it set up to be. If they could just turn off the portal like that, everything that happened - all the work Danny put into protecting the town and catching the ghosts and growing as both a better person and a hero - it all could've just been avoided entirely with that logic. And that, I think to me, is really disappointing?

Like if it had been handled better, I think it could've been a decent finale. And I agree on it feeling a bit too "cartoony" as well. Heck, the entire show definitely felt that way! It was like they tried to make it too much like Fairly Odd Parents, when nothing about it should have been similar at all. Still a fantastic show in its own right, but it certainly left a lot to be desired!

haha yeah I like the idea of Tucker eventually becoming mayor, but I feel like it would have been nice to have some kind of set up into that beforehand, so it didn't come out of the left field! Like show that he had intentions of doing such a thing with his future throughout the show, so it feels like there's payoff for his hard work ;0;;

Rockracoonbomb In reply to AriaPianissima [2019-07-04 00:34:12 +0000 UTC]

100% true with the Portal. I am glad I'm not the only one thinking that.

I think what hurt the show the most was what the director left befor season 3 and Bush Haartman got to do the rest and he didn't had a clear idea what he should do with the charaters.

AriaPianissima In reply to Rockracoonbomb [2019-07-04 00:45:35 +0000 UTC]

oh wow I actually didn't know that about the director leaving the show :0 It doesn't surprise me tho that with Hartman completely in charge, things got a little weird?? Even though it's his original idea and whatnot, I feel like he really held the show back from the potential it could have reached? idk maybe that's just me

credit where credit's due and all but it really would've been nice to see the show blossom into something more akin to like, how Avatar: The Last Airbender was handled. With a lot of love and care and attention put into making sure the characters stayed consistent and had clear growth as the show progressed :0 Danny Phantom had all the potential to be that, but instead we got stuck with cheesy one-liners, bad puns, and some wonky world-building that raises more questions than it gives answers haha
