Fairies usually are among the smallest sentient beings of Hyrule. However, while most fairies are about the size of a small pigeon, there is an even smaller race: the Minish, who are insect sized (and unlike the fairies, don't have the chance to grow bigger). And thus, small fairies often like to visit Minish villages so they can experience what it feels to be gigantic once in a while.
