It's like Ariel knows she's about to be tentacled.

Melody realizes that she may have made a mistake

Yet can you blame her for it?

After what had happened with her. I cannot not. There's equal share of blame.

At least, Ariel learned that in the end.

Indeed. But not that I am being a critic but givin to what she been through with her father one would have believed she would make far better decisions and choices and the movies plot could have so easily been avoided if she just simply told the truth from the start as she knew her daughter had the call of the sea in her.

Lol that is a good point. I did develop my own take on the movie where Ariel doesn't make that mistake but still ends up in Moragas coils and even better more often than the movie

Well Ariel told melody about her being taken and nearly killed as a baby. Thus why the wall is up and she is forbidden to go out to the sea.
Melody desires the sea but obeys her mother's wishes but over time as the years go on with no sight of Morgana she starts believe she is long gone. But her parents wont believe it.

So melody goes sneaking out and enjoys the sea for months on end till she let's it slip about it and since she was in a hurry to get back in she didnt put the bars that were magically sealed to prevent morgana from coming in.

As she was spied on by Morgana the witch sneaks into the kingdom and kidnaps Ariel to make melody get to bring her the trident or her mother will pay the price.

So Ariel would be turned into a mermaid again and coiled and presented to melody when her mother is kidnapped and the story goes on simular to the movie with some differences. And up to where we all know what happened

Thanks. That way it doesn't really ruin Ariels character so much like the movie did except during her captured moments and the ending

Seriously, how could she be so blind?

Indeed. In fact I thought of a plot that would have kept her in the character we cherish and how the story would have been more dramatic and have a better sense

Like instead of Ariel hiding the truth, she tells the truth to Melody and actually brings her to the ocean.

Something like that but a bit different. When I get home I'll send you a note about it so you know.
