from the group is running a "Top Model" type fashion challenge in which each contestant picks out a model which they will use in the various challenge rounds. I chose model #14, which I named Violette. (I'm using the German pronunciation, which sounds like "Vee-oh-Let-tah".) She works out very well for me since my absolute favorite color ever just happens to be purple. When I started making her debut outfit I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to go for, except I had an idea of using a pastel contrasted with black, which can be very striking. By the time I got to the shoe section, I'd had a completely different dress started, then just for the hey of it I tried the boots on her, and I fell in love. And I decided to go with a different outfit than what I'd started with, and this was the eventual result. I like the boldness of it, yet it's still graceful and has some nice shades of lavender and purple, plus the black contrast that I was wanting to implement.

In the process of making this outfit, I realized what the character was like, and what her name was. For instance, Violette, despite her name, is anything BUT shy. She's not afraid to stand out in a crowd but she still likes things to coordinate and look nice together. I think she's half French and half German, which leads to her having a strong sense of aesthetics which she got from her mother, and a penchant for being a perfectionist which she got from her father, which often means she'll be working until 5 in the morning at times just to finish a dress, or re-doing it several times until she's happy with it. This particular outfit which she made has a certain sense of whimsy which she finds appealing.
