Description
This is my character introduction for my new model, the Air Elemental, and Round 1 of the model challenge being held by of in which we were supposed to represent the hybrid version of our character. For inspiration, I was given this picture i2.photobucket.com/albums/y8/A… and the instructions to try to make it look like the character was somehow morphing her body (or parts of it anyway,) into her element. This was actually a lot of fun, as the process wound up being a lot more abstract which was a nice change for me after the last several projects I've been working on. *LOL* Since the figure in the inspiration piece doesn't seem to be wearing much of anything, I thought I'd put her in a unitard and then incorporate some of the colors going on in the picture as well as try to make it look like parts of her are morphing into wind energy. As with all of these characters, I picture her having 3 main forms; completely human, completely comprised of her element (at which times she'd be almost invisible and could fly around at will) and a hybrid form in which she's almost, mostly solid, but with parts of her wisping into air energy.

In this setting, I picture the Air Elementals only bothering with given names (no family names), and they usually have something to do with Air, wind and/or weather. This lovely lady here was named Cirrus, after the wispy clouds which float high up in the sky like gossamer angel hair. She usually prefers to wear light, pastel colors in the families of white, light grey, blueish and lavender, but sometimes she'll form clothes out of other colors depending on her mood (which is often effected by the weather.) She tends to be friendly and cheerful, but she often doesn't understand why some things worry other beings that don't seem to bother her. For instance, she LOVES to fly around in storms, as she finds it exhilarating, even though they scare some folk. And sometimes she forgets that not everyone can fly, though she is happy to share the skies with those beings that do, and often forms strong friendships with them.

On a personal note, I'd like to say that normally I wouldn't have taken on a second model, since I'm pretty well swamped as it is with the various model challenges I've gotten myself into... but Wind has always been my favorite of the elements, (though, I feel affinity with all of them in one way or another) and I just could NOT pass up the opportunity to claim this one. Now comes the fun of catching up on all the past challenges. *LOL* I do like how Cirrus turned out, but as always, feedback is welcome and appreciated.

*Edit* Just a few things to add, since I originally wrote this up at around 4 in the morning and wasn't thinking entirely clearly. *LOL* Another of her abilities is to manipulate the air around her. I don't think she by herself could affect the weather on a global scale, but if she put her mind to it, she could whip up a doozy of a storm. She can also fly in her hybrid form, but not in her completely human form. In all her forms, she forms her clothes using her magic, (as do all of her folk) making it easier to shift between forms when they wish. I also don't picture them having permanent homes. They travel, roaming the earth as the wind itself does. Sometimes they will travel together in bands, but the groupings are informal and will often split into smaller groups or even have people just set off on their own for a while. They tend to not carry many possessions with them, though they might have a few things that could be stuck in pockets, or pouches or possibly even in small satchels. When they shift forms, their items are stored as energy until they shift back to human form again, (though they might hold onto some of them when in Hybrid form.) And as a minor note, they as a people are renowned for their beautiful singing voices. Cirrus herself loves to sing, and one of her favorite places to do so is a particular cavern found near the base of a rocky ravine. The acoustics there are amazing! Her favorite food (they still need to eat) is honey drizzled over plums. She also likes to dip chicken in honey. And add honey to milk to drink. Okay... so honey is her absolutely favorite food ever. (She just told me that. *LOL*)
