You put good thought into this. ^^

Hello:
very nice that you were able to complete this map, you sure added ton more of stuff. I like how it is all surrounded by walls and that you've added those colours for grass (around the rivers) and buildings of different shapes.

Thanks! I would have added more, but time constraints got in the way. And I would have cleaned things up a bit more, too.
That "grass" is farmland, by the way. The city can't eat without it.

Hello:
You are welcome. Yeh, I know what you mean.
Ohh, ok, but still nice green colour you've added as it clearly shows their extension.

Thanks! That was a last-minute addition. I considered using hand-drawn lines for the farms, but this was much quicker. Just select an area and fill it in.

Dracons don't consider it a city worthy to be called a city if it doesn't have one.
This one can only hold about 10,000 spectators. The Colosseum could hold at least 4.5-5 times more.

Well, it isn't really called "a Colosseum." That's just the nickname of the Flavian Amphitheater in Rome. The generic name for such a structure is "Amphitheater", which literally means "two theaters", in reference to the semicircular shape of one theater in ancient times, and how putting two such theaters together would make a circle. I just call them arenas here.
But to get to your good point, yes, arenas the size of the Colosseum (or larger!) would only be found in the larger cities; the top eight plus a few others.

Good info about the Amphiteathers, as Ihave never made any research yet, hehehe.
I thought so, it is hard to imagine how things are in those places, with the people and the events happening there, hehehe.

I have something already, with no one in it. Still in progress.

It was. The seating is the weak part of the picture.

I might give more information about it. The closest equivalent to them in real life happen to be bullrings. Some are very clearly modeled after Amphitheaters.

Chiletrek In reply to Aristodes [2017-03-29 00:11:30 +0000 UTC]
That's fine, unless it serves the purpose of your pic, if not then that's no problem.
But I can actually picture the idea, I mean of the people watching and something not-nice that could happen in the arena itself. I guess events are similar to what could be found happened in roman Amphiteathers? like fightings, races and stuff?

Aristodes In reply to Chiletrek [2017-03-29 00:12:26 +0000 UTC]
Fighting, yes. Races, no. Races would be reserved for racetracks (horses and chariots), but this city doesn't have one. Not enough of a population to support it.

Chiletrek In reply to Aristodes [2017-03-29 00:14:07 +0000 UTC]
I bet many people would like to be able to see those races whenever they can visit bigger cities, quite an event.
Maybe same with fightings as bigger colosseums will allow for much larger tournaments, or how-ever they organize things.

Aristodes In reply to Chiletrek [2017-03-29 00:15:39 +0000 UTC]
Well, both of those are true, although Adrastos does not rule a large enough area or population to support or attract enough visitors for a larger arena.

Chiletrek In reply to Aristodes [2017-03-29 00:23:28 +0000 UTC]
Well, most likely they just have an arena as big as it suits their need an no more because it is not needed, same with other structures I pressume, like the temples and the academy shown in the map.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Aristodes In reply to Chiletrek [2017-03-29 00:25:31 +0000 UTC]
That's right. The academy trains people who help run the city or else want to go into intellectual professions. It's not a mage school. And the temples are few in number, but they meet the needs of the city.

If those structures already present are enough, then there is no need to build more or to expand them, so those resources are better used in something else. So I agree about how that city was planned.

Even by dracon standards, those are awfully violent.
... but Adykon used to especially like them when he visited. He regrets it now.

I guess he was much younger when he used to visit there, good thing nothing happened to him during those visits.

Aristodes In reply to Chiletrek [2017-03-29 00:44:53 +0000 UTC]
Well, he didn't exactly meet them all at once. Adykon, Vaeri, and Kos were never in the same room together at the same time, unless you count him still in an egg in her womb.

Well, nope. But at least something good came rom Hekaga (Kos)... but it was still very bad how Vaeri died.
