An alternate way for step 5 would be to lock the other objects so they will be unselectable, select the area you want to color and set materials to faces.

I'm having problems, if you can help me. Thanks to your tutorial I know how to colour, so thank you. ^^
BUT! I'm having trouble adding figures/textures on the sweater I'm editing. You know, like adding stars, circles, whatever shape I want. I tried using the brush tool for both figure and texture, neither of them can add the shape on the sweater. =w=0
I'm really new to this whole thing, so if you can tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'd appreciate it. ^^ Thank you.
