Second of the Guardians in my new story.

Name: Niels Van Laut (pronounced just as 'Nils')
Gender: None (identifies as male)
Age: 24 in appearance

Role: Protector of Decay - overseeing the natural process of decay of all the dead. His role is to ensure the bodies of all creatures return to the earth, to provide sustenance for the creation of new life.

Personality: Rash, spiteful and unpredictable; Niels cares little for others. He has a very narcissistic view of his existance, and that of others. He often causes trouble out of boredom and apathy. Despite this, he does take his role fairly seriously, and is the only think he tends to devote much attention to.

Trivia: - The mask he wears over his mouth hides a gross disfigurement. His mouth is stitched shut and constantly leaks blood, although the cloth of the mask is magical and soaks it up without staining.
-He communicates by telepathy, and thus can change his voice at will. The one he chooses most is a harsh, rasping tone.
-His tail is flexible as another limb - he uses it as another arm, and occassionally as a weapon. The arrow-shaped point is hard as diamond and deathly sharp.
-The wings aside his head allow him to flutter briefly, but will not hold him up for long.

Biography: Niels overthrew the previous protector by a simple murder in cold blood. Niels always saw himself as the natural heir to the title, even though he was of no relation to the bloodline. He decided one day it was time for him to rise, and so the previous protector received his deadly tail through the heart.
