My contest entry for Kanzashi-Artisans - and the Winner actually!

This is a piece I've made for September. It's a Chinese bell-flower with silver mizuhiki cord (the silver parts) and buds - both traditional elements of a September ensemble for a junior maiko.

The pin consists of:

- 11 flowers
- 3 buds
- 3 shidare falls with bells

The total of hand-painted squares is 55+9+51 = 115
I've painted every single square except those few green ones. Those I had to dye traditionally. The pink is a bit neon-pink by maiko standards but I still hope it's bearable! My paint dries darker than I expected and darkened its' shade after I fixed the paint with steam.

During my research concerning September bell flowers I've realized that they aren't just purple - in fact most of the ones I've seen on maiko had quite a lot of pink. Only one was purple -only and it wasn't worn by a maiko, but sold in a shop - thus I've decided to add pink flowers.
