About this piece:
Eve (the little girl) is a Guardian, which sees the world through a hole, or window in the Tree of Life. She usually sings softly to those poor souls that rest beneath the Tree of Life, guiding them to the realm of the dead.

The way to the realm of the dead is a very , very long brick road. There is no river of souls to wail their sorrows, or numerous eyes peering out from the windows of the Death Train (as seen in the Xiao Qian animation). Only the sound of foot steps.

Some say she hides the rest of her face because she could lure men away from the Path. Others , say she had no facial features except a pair of eyes.

Gift art for ~pinecones , who requested for a critter , ferns and a forest-like background. The tiny leaf-like things are actually Roosevelt fern. Although they don't look as nice as ferns like bird's nest fern, maidenhair fern or silver fern, they're still tough plants. Ferns are very common (and hardy!) where I live, like grass. There is a saying in Chinese about grass : wildfire cannot burn them all; they will grow back again when the spring winds come, thus they are used to signify life.
