Redraw time because I'm starting to feel a bit of burnout!
(Sept 2, 2020 vs. Dec 17, 2017)

I thought I’d do a little event thing where I redraw an old fanart piece and see how much I’ve improved over the years. And you can definitely see how my style’s changed loll The painting I chose for today is my first (digital) painting for the Silmarillion -- and technically I’d say it’s the first one ever that I did, since before that I’d do a little sketch here and there, but those were few and far between.
I read the Silmarillion in high school, but I didn’t quite get into the fandom until I started drawing and posting my art. It was ultimately our favourite “kidnap fam” that drew me in, but I was more interested in seeing Maedhros’ relationship with the twins than Maglor’s (especially since most fanart was about Maglor with the twins loll). So I thought I’d try my own interpretation! XDD
Context for this piece: maybe Maedhros had a bad dream and Elrond comforts him
