I swear from having played hundreds of hours of EU4 that you can literally own most of the old world, along with the new world, and invading the HRE is still a pain in the rear... This is typically how attacking a little twerp in the HRE works out for me:
"Yes! Now I will finally conquer (insert really small state in the HRE)!"
"What? No! Don't call in the emperor! Dang it, I didn't want that!"
"No! The Emperor is allied to France, The Ottomans, and Scandinavia! *Silently starts to cry!*"

Yes a great part of left tend to be dumb these days, same with right btw.
But I don't think Le Pen or AFD would succeed to rule correctly our countries too.
They are too "diviseurs", they can't unite their nation with them, and they don't have coherent economical program.
Minds tend to change, in France the left tend to be more aware of the risks of zealotry.
Of course there is still "idiots utiles" who defend islamism against laïcité, but they are less and less numerous.
Even within radical left.
The main problem is : France is more aware of this problem due to our history (a better knowledge of Islam
and Arabic civilization, but also our historical fight against catholic theocracy) while northern Europeans have
a greater tolerence to zealotry due to the historical division of protestantism between so many sects.
To be fair, even the North African left is more aware of this threat that any Anglo-Saxon or North Europeans
states, by eg I read many articles of them against islamic veil, when English speaking media considers France as a
neo-nazi state ...
You'll probably need others years, and sadly new dijadist attacks, to know more about salafism :-/

You might be right, that it would be enough if the AfD is so strong that it forces the old stagnated parties
to change their policy finally. Our problem was and is, we have no balance. Our society is too left dominant
and we have no real opposition anymore that sets any limits. So the AfD is definitly very good and refreshing.
But to say they can never reign is wrong imo. They are young, they establish themselves like 40 years ago
the Greens did, and they are a serious party inside of our system now. They are no outsiders anymore.
And they can and they will reign, if their actions persuade the people to vote them. It is not just black and white.

Ich finde es super, Nichtwähler aber auch viele von der CDU, was wieder einmal bekräftigt,
dass die CDU eine zweite SPD ist. Die CDU ist eine normale linke Partei mittlerweile und die
konservativen Bürger fühlen sich dort nicht mehr heimisch. Die CDU wird entweder mit der
SPD verschmelzen oder vergehen. Das hier ist nur der Anfang einer gewaltigen politisch-gesellschaftlichen
Wende in den nächsten Jahren und Jahrzehnten. Mittlerweile sind diejenigen die das System bekämpfen
wollten (Grüne usw.) selbst das System geworden.
