Description
The sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus) is a comparably small species of sturgeon from Europe and Asia. And honestly other than that it’s related to animals such as the European sturgeon and the white sturgeon there isn’t that much interesting stuff to say. So here’s some information about sturgeons as a whole. In general sturgeons belong to an old group of fish, dating back to the late Triassic period, while the first true sturgeons appeared during the Cretaceous. They changed very little since then. Sturgeons have bony scutes, which add to their already fairly prehistoric looking appearance. Sturgeons can also get very old, reaching up to 100 years.
