More scanner issues and I didn't wanna do too much post processing so its a bit grainy and blurred at the edges. Started this pic a while back and finally found the motivation to finish it. EnjoyRelated content

Lovely. And I agree with Katsu. X) This shouldn't be 'mature content' anymore than National Geographic should put blaring black bars over pictures of tribal peoples. And since its profile, its a lot more acceptable, IMO anyways. And heck, if some of the 'artistic nude' DDs don't need mature filter then this certainly doesn't.
The detail in the shading is amazing. I can't imagine what the sides of your hands and palms looked like after this. I know mine would be just covered in shiny pencil smudge.

Yeah I ended up making the change as I'm more in line with Katsu myself. Hand didn't end up to smudged as I generally don't rest directly on the page or, when I need to, I'll rotate it or put a blank sheet over shaded portions to keep the smudge factor down. I don't understand the Mature tag, you see no more than you would see on the discovery channel about African tribes...

Yes that is a tattoo under her eye. I don't expect to add any color to this one as bypassing all the shading is really a pain and I'm not entirely comfortable coloring anyway.
I have removed the mature tag. I went back and forth on whether to add it because of the partially exposed nipple but I don't think it's offensive so I'll leave it open to everyone to see unless I am told to do otherwise.
The pose idea came from just wanting to show her looking over her shoulder as if to say "follow me". Nothing to special behind it.

Wow, this is stunningly shaded - regardless of scanner-noms. Not sure I'd have put it under mature though, I mean it's not grotesque, far from it; it's natural so... ^^ but that's me, old "13th Century" fashioned.
The shading on the entire picture, especially the skin tone is superb. Great work.

Glad you like it! I've taken it from under mature as I don't really see a problem after going back and forth with it. I'm really trying to get better with my shading because the better I shade things like skin, the darker I can make other things to create contrast. You'll also be happy to know I got started on a little something after this *hint hint wink wink*

Wow good to see you are still about! I was wondering if you even still used deviantart as I hadn't seen any activity from you (Of course I'm guilty of the same though hehe). I actually drew out the outline for this pic about a year ago but never really added any detail and it sat until recently, so you may have seen that when it was still a WIP. Originally she looked similar to an anime character.

I don't generally keep track of how long it takes to do a pic so it's kinda hard to measure. In general, developing the base image takes the longest as I usually make it up as I go along. The shading doesn't take as long once I know what I'm shooting for. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Thanks again for the feedback.

yeah i usually have a hard time with shading i dont really understand the perspective and the lighting direction too much. how did you learn, do you know some good books that teach shading

Honestly shading takes some practice. I'm still not entirely happy with my own. To gain a better understanding of the perspective and lighting direction, I always find it good to look at black and white photos. The B&W allows me to determine the direction and focus of the light. I've never realy used a book, although I'm sure it would help me. I wish I could explain it better. If you have any other questions or need clarification feel free to ask me and I'll help as best I can
