Description A gentle warning, do NOT read this if youu haven't read the most recent Naruto manga

Pairings: Mainly SasuHina and a little NaruSaku

Three years had passed since the Shinobi alliance. The ten tails had been defeated with the help of the past Hokages but at a terrible price. Many lives were sacrificed, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and cousins. During this time, many things were destroyed but many more bonds had been forged. Hinata had suffered much at the hands of this war. She remembered every detail of it like it were yesterday. The emotions still raw in her chest and tears still fell like silvery pearls of pain. She remembered her bittersweet confession to Naruto and the feeling of weightlessness as she plummeted from the sky through Pain's jutsu. She remembered how Neji lay down his life for her, Naruto and all he loved. She also remembered how Naruto had claimed Sakura was 'more or less' his girlfriend to his father, Minato. She was brought back to reality by a rather painful blow to the stomach. Quicky shifting her stance, she narrowly escaped her father's strike and countered with a blow to the chest.
"Too slow" Hiashi shouted and deflected her attack while simultaneously thrusting at her heart. With a gentle tap he sent her flying across the room. Hurt and tired, Hinata winced as attempted to stand again.
"You're getting better" he said gruffly before walking out of the training room and down the hall
Hinata beamed with pride. It was the first complement she had heard from him since Neji's death. The loss of her cousin had been hard on the whole family. None more so than Hiachi himself as Neji was the only living reminder of his own twin brother. Not only that but Neji was hailed a genius of all levels having replicated the main branches' exclusive technique through observation alone.
Hinata groaned as she limped back to her room deciding to soak her battered body at the bathhouse and hopefully help her forget about the events that transpired three years ago. Naruto's rejection and Neji's death were still fresh in her mind. The sore ninja shuffled all the way to the bathhouse and was grateful to find Sasuke waiting for her outside the Hyuga Household. He grabbed her belongings out of her arms and drew her into a gentle one armed hug. Blushing, she snuggled against his strong frame
"You're so predictable Hina" he said with a smirk
"What do you mean!?" she squeaked
"Every time you want to forgot about the idiot Naruto you go to the bathhouse"
She couldn't argue with that. It was true
Taking her silence as a victory, Sasuke smiled and gave her a gentle kiss on the head
"Forget him, you have me now"
She looked into his onyx eyes and found herself lost in them. So much darkness and pain but she could see also his love for her. Looking back on it, Sasuke was the last person she thought she would be happy with. Hinata had had eyes only for Naruto but somehow he had eyes only for Sakura.
Hinata recalled fondly the first time Sasuke and her had their first real conversation. It was when she was crying by herself in the woods when Sasuke happened to chance upon her. He wordlessly made his way over drew her into a tight hug saying over and over again
"It'll be alright"
At first she tried to push him away but his grip was strong and she needed comfort. After she had stopped crying, Sasuke looked into Hinata's lavender eyes saying "Meet me at Ichiraku's Ramen Bar tomorrow night at 7:00. Take this so you'll have to come" Sasuke pressed into her hand a forehead protector bearing the symbol of the hidden leaf but with a scratch through the middle "You can return it to me then" without another word he departed.
After that, Hinata found herself enjoying his silent company and sharp perception. They continued to meet first just to have another person there and then it turned into simple conversation. They enjoyed this simple friendship for a little while which soon blossomed into love. Their conversations became deeper and more open, the accidental brushing of fingers more often and their attraction stronger. Before long they shared their first kiss, it was everything Hinata had imagined it to be. The world stopped, their hearts beat as one and all she could remember was the gentle press of his lips against hers. The two tried to keep their relationship under wraps as the whole village had yet to re-accept Sasuke but it was Shikamaru's keep observation that caught them out. At first everyone was astonished, if not horrified that someone as quiet and gentle as Hinata was in love with the brutal traitor Sasuke. Everyone was convinced Sasuke had her under some sort of Genjutsu. Some still do. The hardest part was when the two went to tell her father. Sasuke had gripped her hand tightly as they walked hand in hand into Hiashi's meeting room. When Hinata explained Sasuke was her boyfriend, Hiashi remained expressionless and stood up silently. He stared at the two for a long time before challenging Sasuke to a duel. It was a grueling match ending in a tie. Her father had merely thanked Sasuke for the match and walked off without a word.
"I'll take that as an ok" Sasuke had uttered between strained breaths
He then hugged her tightly and looked deep into her eyes smiling. It was with these eyes that now regarded her as they walked hand in hand to the bathhouse. He admired her  flawless skin, plump lips and sad, violet eyes. He saw her stiffen as she spotted Naruto and Sakura walking towards them. Naruto spotted them too. He waved wildly accidentally knocking Sakura over in the process. He quickly came to her aid hauling her up and silencing her frantic yelling with a passionate kiss.
Sasuke quickly covered Hinata's eyes whispering "Don't look, he just likes attention"
Hinata couldn't help but giggle at Sasuke's concern. She gave him a peck on the cheek and continued to walk to the bathhouse.
Finally reaching their destination, Sasuke handed Hinata her bundle of clothes kissing her on the cheek
"If I'm going to become hokage I've got to become stronger. Come find me when you're done. You know where to find me"
Hinata watched with pride as she watched her future Hokage hop from roof to roof off to training.
Just like Naruto would
she sighed but quickly dismissed the thought for she loved Sasuke for who he was and not who he reminded her of.
Or so she thought
