- Dec 2010- Photoshop CS5
This was a stylistic exercise to try out a different look, and also a final for digital illustration. It's not the favorite thing I've done this semester, but I feel like I learned enough from it.
Sabriel is still one of my favorite fantasy novels, and here is my tribute. Sabriel is holding Saraneth in front of a freed Mogget.

Wow thanks! It's due for an update, but it always made sense to me he'd probably push his free form to be extra menacing, maybe to make up for years of being smol and adorbs.

That makes perfect sense! Of course, being smol and adorbs has its uses too, when you want to trick people into doing things that would be really bad for them haha I'm not still upset about Clariel.

I wish to design a Magic: the Gathering card with it.

The card would be a legendary human creature.
The name would be Sabriel, _insert epithet here_
You should provide the epithet.
The card would be either a 1/1 or a 2/2, but have the ability to summon a much more powerful legendary _choose one or more from dragon, spirit, elemental_ creature token.
The card would be white and black, and serve as the Commander of the deck for all of the other cards I have designed for Sabriel and her equipment.
The deck will be named "Armament of the Abhorsen".
Credit for the image would be given at the bottom of the card image, as is customary for Magic cards.
I would also provide a mention and a link in the description to this page with a recommendation to explore your gallery.

Haha, well, way too long if you count the restart. For this version, though, including the research (took my own photo ref) and thumbnails, it took between 10-15hrs. Should have taken much less time, but I was still learning a lot.

I love this! Definitely one of the best Abhorsen Trilogy fanarts I've seen. I love Sabriel's clothes and just the entirety of Mogget. Very good job!

I like the interpretation of Mogget- he looks really sinister. Sabriel looks great too, and I like the style. It looks drawn, or painted with watercolors, not done on the computer. Well done.

I love this book, and I really love your picture. It's very dynamic, and the smoke looks really awesome. Overall this is a really great picture
