This was such a great story...... it shows how very Communist the G1 stories were, what with the energy crisis and all. That, and "till all are one"..... It's interesting that Megs was part of the proletariat of Cybertron and arguably starts out as a "good guy" by overthrowing the Autobot bourgeoisie in a Cybertronian Communist Revolution, but goes too far with his zeal (hence why Optimus Prime has to take him down).
I like how you focused on a facet of Megatron that not many people know about, namely how his head "opens up" into a headdress when he removes his helmet..... not to mention that his helmet is removable in the first place.
G1 was chock full of good stories. Were you as disappointed as I was with the Michael Bay film?

T.T I WAAAAAAAAAAAAANT IT.
Seriously, the foremost goal of my life for the past... erm, month or so... has been to get my hands on this comic. When you say you can't stop thinking about Megatron as a result of that comic, I can totally relate. And I haven't even read the darn thing. I have heard/seen great things about it. The artwork alone blows me away, and the story is just so... yeah. Wow. Words are failing because, um, that pic up there? It fried my brain. @.@ I think I need to go stare at this and drool for a time.
(Er... is it cause for worry about my sanity if some strange combination of staring at this and wishing fervently that I owned the comic and pondering Megatron in general-- it is quite tragic, yes?-- results in tearing up? DX)

Fragging win. I haven't heard that song in years.
(AND THAT COMIC IS LIKE MY BIBLE. NO LIE.)
That's probably one of my favorite scenes in all of Megatron: Origin. My jaw like dropped to the floor when he took off his helmet ( I never knew it could come off) and it was such a moving moment. It was like he was really revealing himself to you (the reader) and now he was determined to fight for a cause, to win for himself. Yeah, that was one of the best pages in the whole book. x3
I really think you captured the mood here quite well, especially since Milne's style is so mindblowlingly detailed. x_xl

Sweet image and love the song too. I did a similar pic called Innocence lost...
That whole story gave me a little more sympathy for the devil called Megatron

If you ever decide to clean this up with ink or scanning it or whatever, I'd take a closer look at the face. That comic series was awesome. I seem to remember that in the beginning, Megatron was angry, but his attacks were fits of rage and frustration, not really that he was psychotic yet. At the stage where he dons the helmet like the image above he's more like the megatron we all know. He is resolute, his anger permeates averything he does. In my opinion he does not sit there with his helmet with his mouth agape like he's asking for energon goodies.
The rest is a great start to what could be a very moody, powerful piece.

Now I see what you were after. I didn't listen to the song so I didn't have the frame of rreference. The other pic you sent really explains what you mean. Art is always open to interpretation though.

Ever since G1 was new, it always looked like Megatron, more than anyone, could easily just pop his helmet off. I love the 'origins' stuff even though my own fan canon doesn't go that route.

Great job focusing on what quickly became my favorite image in that whole book. Wasn't it just out-and-out awesome?!? That is the most beautiful transformer head design ever, and it's on Megatron, hidden forever under that old mining helmet...!!! Such a cool and meaningful concept. I'm glad to find I'm not the only one in the world who loves it. Thanks again for drawing it. You did a really nice job. Love the sketchiness of the pencil.

Yup yup yup! Megs Origin was the first comic book I ever bought, my gateway into the comic book world that I'd wanted to join for years... and I loved it just as you did. All hail Alex Milne!
Have you read Infiltration? It's superb: fun story, exceptional art...

After reading, re-reading, carrying around everywhere with me, and in general absorbing Megs Origin, Infiltration and Escalation, War Within 1 and 2, and the first Spotlight volume, I have to say that I think Infiltration is the best comic I own. It took a while for me to think so, but quality will manifest. Meg-O is #2, and Infiltration and War Within are tied for a close #3. And now, for what it's worth, you have my opinion! Hope you like the books! If you can't afford them (War Within is out of print and insanely expensive), try to get them from your library on Interlibrary Loan. It is a happy thing, and usually free or just the cost of shipping. ::

ahh okay i try to get my hands on them, thanks for the hint
and i own war within vol. 2... i got it from ebay for only 1 euro (0,75 dollar ?!?)
i was really suprised about that o_O but hey, the cheaper the better
... i felt a little bit sorry for the seller <: ) such a genious comic doesn't deserve it to be so cheap xD
