My - very subtle - submission for Yellow Day... Not much yellow, I know.. But, looking at my other colored pictures... It's a lot more than any other...

This picture is kind of hard to talk about, considering it reflects a lot of my own personal opinion about mermaids, and mermen... First, I guess it's good to say that they can catch diseases, human or fish-like. They live longer, but as a consequence, reproduce seldom, and to reproduce, they come of age, during which time they start shedding their scales and grow human legs and the such... They beach themselves, mate, and then the male slips back into the water, redevelopping his fish-like features quickly. It's their job to hunt for the female they mated with. (Monogamy is practiced.) Females beach themselves for nine months, enough time for the baby to grow, then give birth to it in the water, and redevelop their fish parts in the process... It's hard to describe, I'm sorry for my muddled thoughts.
They have webbed fingers, which is hard to see in the picture, which makes easier for them to swim... The back of their tails have very colorful designs, mimicking the idea of butterfly wings, and other colorful land creatures, both trying to scare the predator away with a type of 'face' as well as delivering the message, if the former doesn't get through, that a merperson's flesh is poisonous to them, and that it shouldn't be killed or eaten...

It leaves the question... Is this boy simply coming or age, or is he suffering from Fin Rot...? I'll leave it up to you...
