I was never undisturbed watersMy moods were riptides
Not ebbing and flowing
But sudden, in the now
They burned hot on my inner coals
Leaving me searching, yearning
Hoping for stability in drowning
A martyr for mental illness
Burned and broken, alive but bleeding
A riptide girl
In a sea of dark emotions.
