Description From a mother to her child, love will bloom like dew in the night; soft, unspoken, but nourishing in its gentle embrace.

From one mother to one soon-to-be, I dedicate this to ~safiah , who has been there for me through more than I can say, and who means the world to me. Congratulations sweetheart, once again, and I wish you nothing but love and luck.

And ~PhilipMatthews for letting me use this background ([link] ) to create this. People like him makes the world a better place with their generosity and willingness to share, and I am in his debt for not only letting me use one of his images, but two.

Thank you again, Philip.

Ah, lets see. The sky was *resurgere s handiwork; I just manip'd the size and color a bit, blurred it here and there, then blended it into the previous background. The light filtered in was hand-made by myself, one ray at at time. The big pegasus (symbolizing Safiah on some strange level) origionally had all four feet on the ground, but with some cutting and pasting, rotating, duplicating and otherwise smudging/fudging, it's now on its two hind legs in a half rear. I thought about making the far fore pawing upward more and the near fore curving in towards its body, but decided that I wanted a calmer appearance to help compliment the foal behind it. The foal itself was origionally palomino, and with three out of four hooves on the ground, though with its dam rearing as she is before him I couldn't have him doing much less than he is now. I didn't want to overdo the action with him either, which is why I kept it small.

And I know, the turtle is origionally a land-based one, but he was -so- cute that I couldn't pass him up. And he's.. kind of.. on land in the picture...

Oh well. I had fun doing this dev.

Total time approx 5.5 hours, on and off. (Mother of two kids 3 and under doesn't leave much time to sit and work undisturbed. )

Thank you for viewing!

Very nice. I think this is overall your best equine piece. If I may say, I think if you add some splashes to the hooves & a bit of disturbance in the water behind them. I'm getting the idea that they just ran up to the cliff, but not seeing the aftermath in the water behind them.
Keep up the good work!

Wow. This is so gorgeous. I read the description and couldn't believe I missed the turtle. I was only staring at the water in awe for about five minutes. I think you did a wonderful job of manipulating the horses--much better than anything I can pull off right now. Your friend is really lucky to have something so fantastic dedicated to her.

great image, with great atmosphere and light !!!

My only little critique is that the horses have no shadows, but beside this you did a very good job on this one!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

arrsistable In reply to Sagitarii [2007-01-12 17:00:20 +0000 UTC]

You're right! But with the top of the waterfall having no contrast to the water spilling over, putting shadows down would have looked funny, so I just opted not to.

Maybe I should soften the shadows on the pegasus' bellies/legs, though.

Carol! I don't know what to say. This is so incredibly sweet, it brought tears to my eyes. It's absolutely gorgeous, and you are, of course, amazingly talented.

Ours it truly a rare friendship; you're always there to give blunt advice without being hurtful, to listen without complaint, and to laugh without reserve. I'm lucky to count myself among the few who have a friend like you.

And you have the wings so perfect!
