Description Made upon request!

I used my 'Solitude' image, which can be found here: [link]

F U L L V I E W, otherwise you won't get it.

I hope it helps; if it's confusing let me know and I'll redo!

Edit!
To achieve it on a black or dark background, set the top pic to 'multiply' and use white brushes (or a white silhouette). Instead of using a drop shadow on the brushes, use an outerglow. Tip from ~axis85

great tutorial, i get it now! i just need to find a way of converting it from photoshop tools to photoimpact :S do you think it would work if i painted the brushes as an 'image'? then used that over the top?

Hi, arrsistable! I used your amazing tutorial to create the border of this recent photomanipulation of mine: [link]

(BTW, I used your fog brushes to create the border )

Thanks!

I found, that with the random colours you need (say ev green or HL purple) you can do the same thing, but then make that huge black brush into a brush preset, make a mask layer on your picture and do it like that. so you get the clear, sharp yet floaty look on another random coloured bg. Yeah... if that made sense. if it didnt let me know and ill explain it. its just pesky when your trying to get it on another site and it just wont work

Hmm... this is really neat, and I've tried to do this, and it works good, until I get to the part where you set the original pic to "screen", and then start adding the brushes on the new layer... then, for some reason, it always keeps the original, box-shaped border, and won't let me go over it with the brushes... I don't know what I'm doing wrong. x.x

Quick question: Which brush(es) did you use as the black in this picture? They're very pretty =]

arrsistable In reply to HellsAsphyxiation [2008-09-03 14:07:22 +0000 UTC]

I lost the link to the original top circular brush, which is why I don't use them anymore. The others though come from my private stock.

No problem. I honestly thought a lot more people knew this, which is why I never bothered posting a tutorial before; I only did it because someone requested it.

Hope it works out well for you.

I absolutely LOVE you for posting this! I always thought people who made pictures like that were just extreme master's at blending photos - I guess not. This technique is so easy. I used it for one of my boredom pieces if you want to check out the out come (I don't know, some people like to see other peoples use of there tutorials.)

LOL. Some people might be, I don't know. I discovered this trick just by playing around in Adobe one day, and thankfully I never forgot it.

Thank you for not only the sweet comment, and for posting a link to a dev using it! I'm always interested in seeing a dev done with tips or tutorials of mine.

I wonder if PS7 has screen option...either not or I am terribly dumb and could not locate it...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

arrsistable In reply to Mithgariel [2007-02-05 14:26:00 +0000 UTC]

It sure does! It's located on the layer pallet in the top left hand corner, as a drop-down list. If you can't find it, I'll show you via screenshot.

I used PS7 for a few years.
