During Cold War many of our industrial products were exported into eastern countries. Especially trains. You can find our locomotives all over Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria...

Busses, metro, trains, taxis etc yes, trams much less. In western countries there are not many trolleybuses or tramways in cities and so in cityscape or environmental art you see it much much less. hence the surprise.

For animation i use - Adobe After Effects CS6, and for GIF making (from the exported video) - Adobe Photoshop CS6. After Effects has convenient features: timeline, layers, many various manipulations with objects. It is also worth noting that due to functionality, easier to find lessons.
