Description

Hiccup holds his hands up.

The mysterious girl has her bow and arrow pointing straight at his head...

"Who ar' yew?" she speaks.

Hiccup stays silent.

"Dun't maik me shewt!" she threatens.

Hiccup takes a deep breath.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." he responds.

".. An' why not?" she presses.

Suddenly a giant roar sounds;

"That's why-"

The girl turns her head in the roars direction, just as a black creature tackles her.

"AHHH-" she screams!

As she's thrown back against boulders, her hand lost grip on her weapon.

The creature stares at her with it's green, cat-like eyes.

The boy walks towards her, picking up her bow along the way.

"Okay buddy c'mon." Hiccup says as he directs the creature away from the girl.

The girl pants in fear as the creature angrily backs away. She looks back between the two,

"Wha' is that theeng?.."

Hiccup looks confused.

"He's a dragon."

"A... Dragun?.."

Hiccup awkwardly chuckles,"You look like you've never seen a dragon before."

The girl just sits with a shocked expression.

"... You really haven't seen a dragon before?"

She looks towards the ground.

"Because Draguns are a meith (myth)..."

This struck Hiccup. What does she mean?

The girl weakly stands.

"... Anyways.." Hiccup concludes, " Let's start over. I'm Hiccup, and this is Toothless."

The girl stares at him for a moment. Looks at the 'dragon'. "Mye name is Merida."

My Merricup is showing.
I got the idea for this after school on Monday. And started this after school when I should have done homework.

It's Merida's first Encounter with Toothless (and Hiccup but he's not actually shown in the picture.)

This took me 3 days to finish, I actually coloured during class at some points too. I made it also for my portfolio I need to submit to ACAD (Alberta College of ART and Design), The deadline was originally on Saturday to submit, but they expanded the deadline and it's now the 18th

I need different varieties of Mediums and Perspectives and stuff. That's why this one was made with Prisma Pencil Crayons, also because they were collecting dust.

I'd have to say Toothless' scaly body and Merida's hair was most difficult, meaning they were the most fun.

It's also my first time colouring dragon scales with .. really any colouring utensil, so I'm proud of how WELL it came out.

This is (suppose to be) when Merida and Hiccup are older. Like Hiccups HTTYD 2 (*nosebleed*) design, and Merida is supposedly older in this picture, wearing a red-violet dress, with a leather armour thingy.( can't remember what it's called.)

I have a 6 day weekend, so expect to see more artwork from me! Sorry to those awaiting commissions and the next JTH page!
