Description One of my most recent paintings.  This painting is just 7"x11" - the smallest painting that I've made since 2014!  When I had started painting I was told that "bigger is better" and that I should paint on fairly large pieces of paper... But I actually prefer to paint on pieces that are 11"x15" or smaller.

Turner watercolours on Canson Moulin du Roy 140lb cold-pressed paper | 7"x11" | May 2018

Very nice, the transitions between the colours are very smooth and I like the colour combination!

Lovely piece, the colours blended beautifully here and I especially like how the horse's stripe came out.
I also like working on a small scale and frequently worried that I don't often work on large pieces, until an artist friend reminded me that size doesn't really matter -- what matters is, as always, the final result. It's also really a matter of preference; some artists like working small scale, some prefer working on monumental pieces, some prefer the middle range, while others work on all sorts of sizes. The best piece of advice I came across is to simply do what feels right to you, not what you think you ought to do.

Thank you so much!  That's fantastic advice!  Very true.  As artists, I think we sometimes need a reminder that it's important to follow our hearts and our instincts rather than just following the "rules" or a preconceived idea of what is correct.  Thank you!

This is gorgeous! I love the colors, and it really looks like the horse is looking around.
