I tried painting this same bear three times... this last one looks nothing like what I had originally planned, but I decided I liked it enough to finish it and that I needed to take a break from trying to paint the original idea because I was getting frustrated

I wanted to keep this painting simple and atmospheric, but it was lacking something, so instead of adding more layers of paint I decided to add some details and shading with a pen. I almost never do mixed media work, but this time I wanted to try it. My drawing/sketching style is very different than my painting style, so this bear is like an amalgamation of the two, which was fun to make and definitely fuelled my inspiration.
