Description The fifth sculpture is the phoenix. In my imagination there is always a conflict between the Cerberus and Phoenix. So I had to honor this beautiful bird. This sculpture is unique because of its fancy decoration. Many devil claw arms (with points still attached, I normally cut them to reduce injury) make up the tail, wing tips, and delicate feet. This one is the most popular sculpture because of it. I am very fond of it as well. The phoenix is 11 inches tall, 6 1/2 inches long, and 3 1/2 inches wide.

Thank you! It has an elegant raw form that's hard to pin point. It just works.

That is such a cool piece of work there. I love how it has that beautiful decay kind of look. Like it would come alive and fly about the room on a particularly haunting night. Great job.

Thank you! That's probably what attracted me to the pods in the first place. Under every normal person is a macob wierdo looking to express themselves. LOL

I could not agree more and with your craft you really earned the comment and favorite. I wish there was a bit more someone could do then just that.

That is an inedible bit of sculpting and crafting there. Very, very impressive. Kind of lost for words on how to describe how excellent this sculpture is.

ART-fromthe-HEART In reply to Captain-Varro [2009-03-20 20:10:51 +0000 UTC]

You're too kind! I didn't realize until recently that devil's claws are actually an herbal suppliment (not in the hard stage like I use them in...hard to imagine something like this edible and one point.)

ART-fromthe-HEART In reply to Captain-Varro [2009-03-23 19:38:33 +0000 UTC]

Well, it has to be cooked a special way. The fruit is prickly with hairs and really sticky with a oil like substance. It smells funny too (I like the smell, but others find it disgusting). It cooks like okra I heard and tastes a bit bitter. Must be an aquired taste...

Ah, thank you for the information. Is there a price range for your work? These are really unique pieces and I know you put a lot of time into them, and don't know what kind of price you would have to ask for them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ART-fromthe-HEART In reply to wynnesome [2008-11-24 20:21:05 +0000 UTC]

There is a price range. A small one (mermaid size) is $25, a medium (phoenix) is $35, a large (centaur, cerberus) is $45, and an extra large (eastern, western dragon) is $60. The price goes up if you want added materials to it, such as wire decoration and other things (I collect random stuff so the option is always there). But just as a devil claw sculpture, with all the spikes and flower organs, it follows the standard price.

wynnesome In reply to ART-fromthe-HEART [2008-11-25 01:00:53 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the info... that's really reasonable. Can I pay you PayPal for a Phoenix similar to that one you've got posted? Not to attempt to exactly reproduce, but similar. Otherwise, what type of payment arrangements do you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ART-fromthe-HEART In reply to wynnesome [2008-11-25 18:40:13 +0000 UTC]

I don't have paypal unfortuneately...but if it's possible for you to send a check my way then you can do that. I'll make your medium sized phoenix (similar to the first one, but not exact) first, then photograph it and let you see it. If you like it then you can send the check may way. Sound good? This'll be fun, I loved making the phoenix!
