Omg thank you! I was originally going to post the original painting but then I made the mistake of messing with some really cool filters XD
Hair is actually not that hard! I just color the main body a really dark color and then use a digital hair brush to paint lighter and lighter layers on top of it until it looks good. I swear, texture brushes save my life!

Filters can definitely take up more time than the drawing itself! 
I always do a mid-color, and then color in darks and highlights, but it always looks blah. And I don't get the texture brushes, cuz you can't really bend the hair ones (if that makes sense). Like, hair isn't always just straight up and down, so if I wanted curves, I'd have to draw it in myself. Maybe I'm not using them right. xD
