Really fantastic construction, modeling and photography. I was researching Dragon Age cosplay for my own upcoming DA cosplay group and I came across this. Glad I did. Great work.

Thank you! Took me a very long time to make it. Cosplay took about nine months to build.

MAKER NOO! Maker yes~ This Sebastian cosplay so wonderful! I just compared it to a reference picture of Sebastian Vael and MAKER it is spot on! You did a beautiful job and I am impressed that you made the scale armor yourself.

How hard is it to make scale armor? I've made chainmail before (my step-dad & mom helped a lot because we had a con coming up in like 2 weeks) for my Hawke cosplay and it can be very confusing at times. Can you wear contacts? If you can you sooo should get some light blue contacts so your eye color matches Sebastian's eyes! : D

First off. Thank you for your compliment! I really appriciate it!
Secondly, Scale Maile isn't too difficult. Its just a matter of following a pattern. Kind of like Euro- 4in1 where its four rings for every scale. It super easy to pick up and you can really see your progress. it DOES get very time consuming though.
Also, contacts are expensive when your broke. XD I spent all the money I had trying to make the armor. But I do think about doing that and getting some Brown boots to match Sebastian's. Though I do have some pretty blue eyes.

Your welcome! That is good to hear and is really helpful if I ever need to make scale armor for any of my costumes. Also is the scale armor very heavy? Do your shoulders or chest hurt after wearing it for a long period of time? Totally understandable! I don't even want to remember the amount of money it took to make Hawke...*shudders*

Some contacts range anywhere from 65 all the way up to 165. I got my angelic blue contacts for around 125, which is really good in my opinion. The cheaper ones tend to hurt my eyes a lot more than the better quality ones. My eyes are blue as well but they didn't stand out like how Hawke's eyes do so I decided to get contacts.

Actually - wearing the scales wasn't that bad. Only issue I had was that, like a tube top, they slid down. I kept having to pull them up and buckle them tighter around my chest. Almost couldn't breathe when I got them on to the point where they stopped sliding down. I'm working on modding them so I can wear it without letting them fall.

As far as contacts, I might have to get ones for my prescription. I don't often wear contacts, so I am always weary of them.

Ahh I see~ The same thing happened with my chainmail. It was pulling the top down and messing it up so we set up a harness system under the shirt with leather straps and hooks and then hooked them to the chainmail, which stopped it from slipping down and made it a lot more tolerable to wear for long periods of time.

I have prescription contacts as well as my cosplay contacts, which are a bit bigger than my eyes so it can get uncomfortable at times. The yellow ones I bought at a con so they were a last minute thing but besides being uncomfortable they worked out quite well. While the blue ones were bought online but they didn't allow me get them in my prescription sadly.

That is always fun, trying to make something makeshift out of just ideas. Fantasy Armor is always more difficult than it seems. Mostly because there are so many "Floating" armor pieces that don't seem to attach to anything. I always have such a time trying to figure out how I'm going to make something stay when it has no apparent straps that keep it from either falling off or looking weird.

I'm always weary of buying contacts online. I might ask my optometrist about getting prescription contacts that are colored. I think it'd nice to get comfortably fitting contacts that do the same thing as my cosplay contacts.

Yeah especially when armor sometimes doesn't even work in reality or it defies gravity and such. I love how fantasy armor looks, I just wished that it worked in reality and didn't defy the laws of physics.

I was and still am weary of buying online but I tried to do the same thing that you might do and it didn't work out. They had this special effects contact site but it was shutdown a while ago. I went back and asked them what colors they had all they had were some natural looking ones so I had to get them online.

Thankfully I don't need contacts for a while now because the planned ahead ones that I want to do don't require them or I have the colors I need already. Are you planning any cosplays/going to any conventions by the way?

There are a lot of armors that I want to create both as cosplay and as a challenge. I love challenging myself. I learned how to create scalemail for Sebastian just so I could bring something new to my costumes. I'm hoping that by challenging myself I can create more exciting cosplay.

Sad day with the contacts, I have only worn contacts a handfull of times, so I never really got around to shopping for them. Not really sure what I should look for. But than again. Maybe just talking to my eye doctor I might be able to figure it out. You know, get ones that fit and work well for my eyeballs.

As far as costumes that I'm working on for the future. I WANT to do a lot of different ones. But what my group is planning for Penny Arcade Expo in August/September is Mass Effect 1/2/3 and they need me to be their Kaiden. So I'm going to learn to build futuristic armor. What I wanna do for myself is build a Man!Shepard.
How about you?

I am the same way with special effects makeup & armor. I want to just create so many crazy and intricate things even though I don't have the time. I have to keep my sketchbook near me so that I don't loose track of all the ideas and plans that I sometimes randomly think of!

Yeah your eye doctor can most likely point you in the right direction or give you some ideas of where you can find contacts that will suit your eyes. I just browsed around on the internet until I found the contacts that I needed and there were quite a few sites. I narrowed it down by comparing them all and finding the most legitimate site that seemed like it wouldn't scam me out of my money.

Same here.. I have a whole list of costumes that I want/plan to do. I am going to go to Wizard World Chicago Comic Con in the beginning of August, Gen Con a few weeks later in August and Dragon*Con at the end of August.

You're going to be Kaidan from Mass Effect? Sweeeeet~! I think you would do a very good job of cosplaying as Kaidan. You could certainly look a lot like him if you styled your hair like his and such. My next costume is a Nurse from Silent Hill. I am going to make a prosthetic mask and a latex dress that will most likely have straps or something on the inside to insure that it clings tightly to my body.

What I want to do after that though is Female Commander Shepard from Mass Effect 3 with a glowing omni-blade. If something goes wrong though I might go on my fall-back plan and do a female Turian or female Drell from Mass Effect 3. I've got some ideas and designs that I think would look awesome once I finalize them!

I never had a sketchbook for any of my crazy ideas. I mostly just do them when I get the chance next. I like to experiment and design new things so that when I have to do something new, I can bring my own touch to it. I really like doing that. Makes it more fun.

Wow - it looks like you have a busy Augest ahead of you. I couldn't imagine doing three cons in one month. Usually I do one. But than again we have fewer cons in Oregon and Washington. I'm really going to get crazy this Augest/September and do PAX and Kumoricon. They happen to be on the same weekend. So that'll be fun. Travel to Seattle Washington for PAX than back to Portland Oregon for the remainder of Kumoricon.

Yeah, I'll be doing Kaidan or Thane. I still haven't decided what one I'm going to do. Because with Thane, I'll be looking at just a leather/latex suit with some armor bits here and there and a foam latex mask and gloves to give that real Alien look. But if I did Kaiden I'm just doing armor and a lot of military surplus gear.

I really want to do Commander Shepard from ME3. Omni-blade and all. There are TONS of tutorials for the armor online and it'd be super duper easy to do if I just did it out of EVA foam.

I like to draw all the time anyway and since I am in a few art classes I decided to carry yet another one around just for when I get random inspiration/ideas. I would hate to forget some of the ideas that I come up with so my sketchbook comes in handy at times as a reminder.

Yeah I have no con plans until August but maaan I am so excited!! Oooh~ Some of my friends were going to go to PAX but they couldn't make it in time so they chose Dragon*Con instead and they all have Dragon Age cosplays so it is going to be awesome!! Kaidan is awesome and I think you could pull him off but Thane is just as awesome! If you did Thane you would also have to do a latex chest piece and neck piece as well since he has kepral's syndrome and he needs his neck/chest to be uncovered so that he can breathe easier.

Yeah whenever I plan to do Commander Shepard I want to do it out of EVA foam as well. I have a few friends on facebook who have made EVA foam suits of Commander Shepard so if I needed any tips I could ask them for help thankfully. I know a few people who are doing the Daedric armor from Skyrim so it is sooooo tempting to try my hand at doing a Dragon Priest from Skyrim as well just because they look so fantastic and are so awesome in game.

Ahhh if you couldn't tell I have quite a few cosplays that I want to do and I am constantly trying to decide on what cosplay to do next. The only solid idea that I have right now is the Silent Hill Nurse... but I want to have another one done before all the cons in August... It is so hard to decide on choosing the next cosplay sometimes *whines*
