Thanks Anthony! This is literally what you see when you look up in the shop as the violins are all hanging from the ceiling by their crooks. It's a small shop front and every imaginable space is taken up with violins, violas and cellos.

I must admit, it's not so much the smell, as it's a Swiss shop and is therefore spotless. But I love going in there. The wood, the curves of the instruments, it's all so wonderful! Also the luthier himself just belongs there. A very kind, gentle person who could easily have been in the same place and in the same business 300 years ago. And the storefront is an old building on a side street that has been there for more than a 100 years, I'm sure. It's kind of like stepping back in time in a way.

this particular luthier has an active apprentice program, as do other instrument repair shops in Geneva so not to worry, the tradition will certainly continue!
