Description This was taken driving down the Kander valley from Kandersteg, in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland. The light caught the sheer rock face making it glow with a golden light.

This took me back to a similar experience I had one late afternoon camping out in the high Sierras in California.  Thanks for bringing
 that memory back to me.

Thank you, Myron for letting me know how this piece of work affected you! Yes, the light was quite nice on this chunk of rock this afternoon. I never tire of photographing the mountains. And looks like I'll be back in the Sierras myself soon so hopefully will have some winter shots from there as well. But it is pretty hard to beat the Alps. I've been so lucky to live in two of the most beautiful places on this earth, California and Switzerland! I am so glad that this photo was able to bring you back some beautiful memories. Please feel free to peruse my gallery in the hopes that some other beautiful memories may be sparked for you!

Your gallery took me on journey that was almost as good as being to the many places you have traveled.  You have a sharp eye, catching the essence, even the very sole of the subjects you capture so professionally.  The snow pack this year in the Sierra's isn't very deep this year do to the drought we are suffering, but I'm sure that will not curtail your skills making some fine photos of the area.  I'm looking forward to some early camping trips.

You have no idea how much your comments mean to me. I am so happy to have been able to share my photos with you on DA and take you to so many places through the lens of my camera! Yes, I know the drought is affecting the snow pack, but will see how much time I have to actually take photos as that isn't the purpose of my visit. May I ask where you are based? And have you ever been to Yosemite at this time of year and seen the firefall effect on the falls at El Capitan in February?

I was born and grew up in San Francisco, but live in Sacramento.  I have a nice house here but miss S/F and never should have moved away.
As a child, my parents took me to Yosemite to see the "real firefall" no longer done because of environmental concerns, but I've not enjoyed the
effect you speak of on Yosemite Falls.  I did make the all day hike to the top of the falls many years ago.  With such crowds of visitors these
days, I've not been back for many years now, but may give it one more try this summer.

Yes, I've read about the "real firefall" which must have been a spectacular sight. Not  environmentally friendly at all, but still must have been quite something. The effect that I mentioned is actually a sunset lighting effect on the falls off El Capitan which only exist in the winter. With the drought it makes me wonder if they are there now. Just try to go at an off peak time, as the park really does get crowded. I grew up on the peninsula, then studied at Berkeley and after that at SF Conservatory of Music, so we're from the same area! Yes, I can imagine that Sacramento is a big change from the city. I've got family up there but have actually never really visited our state capitol. Must do that sometime . . .

Well we are finally getting some decent rain this weekend, and also some good snow "up the hill."
My garden will be happy to feel a soaking.  There's two museums here in Sacramento that are worth
a visit, the Crocker Art Museum and the outstanding Railroad Museum.  The Old Sacramento area is
interesting, but very tourist heavy.

Hooray! You need some of that wet stuff, I know. So enjoy the sensation and will be interesting to see if anything last "up the hill". Thanks for the weather report

Thank you! I am so very lucky and I never forget it! This trip I actually brought the camera but forgot the SanDisk and had to borrow one. Luckily somone had an extra as there was nowhere to buy one in this tiny little village . . .

Obviously--just a result of having way to much to do and not be able to think about myself. Next shipment of instruments and music off to Kosovo today--after this I will wait a bit before tackling another one. It's a lot of work.
