thanks, Brett! But I really can't take much credit for the background, it actually came out more or less like that through the lens. I've upped the detail a bit but it was one of the things that I liked abut this shot, the background texture. It's not so easy to shoot these Iris so well as they are planted in rows, and oftentimes the dirt/ground is what's in the background, if there's no plastic. Otherwise the other Iris are the background and it gets real busy. So this yellow trio really popped out nicely.

Well, yes, but it was your decision to shoot this bunch and to keep a shallow depth of focus, so the artist in you made good calls.
